Skyclad is a folky/thrashy band with harsh vocals. And they use a violin too.

Agreed. "Death to all but Metal!" by Steel Panther is essential listening if one is interested in glam metal.
Anthrax is "alright". They're mediocre musically and lyrically, but they sound "happy", which makes them different enough to be worth listening to...
TBH I found it to be dissapointing in the extreme. Judas Priest + Orchestra should be amazing! -Was not.

It's not "bland" though. It's just plain bad.
Demolition is meh, Jugulator was better. Cathedral Spires, Death Row, Decapitate and Dead Meat can all stand up to Priest classics.
