    I recently purchased (online) Ben Nichols' solo record The Last Pale Light in the West. It hasn't arrived yet, but I'm excited. The clips I've heard were pretty cool.

    Ya my bro likes them, they're pretty good from what I can tell but for some reason all I do with rock is rotate The Beatles and Pink Floyd obsessively.

    The new Thrice is terrible, and this is coming from someone who loves them. For me Vheissu was the pinnacle, but literally nothing happens on Beggars.

    Well, Zola Jesus for sure. Max Elliott put a good 7". Children's Hospital is great Throbbing Gristol-eqsue stuff. Blank Dogs is what you need to listen to.

    Also, check out the new Woods record.

    Mono's latest is still an easy top 5 for any 2009 list I come up with on the spot so I guess that would be my fav non-metal. maudlin of the Well's newest (which isn't metal) is pretty good but hasn't endured as many listens.
