I recently purchased (online) Ben Nichols' solo record The Last Pale Light in the West. It hasn't arrived yet, but I'm excited. The clips I've heard were pretty cool.
where do you find out about these bands? i've only heard of three or four of those and i don't think i've heard anything by them before.
Ya my bro likes them, they're pretty good from what I can tell but for some reason all I do with rock is rotate The Beatles and Pink Floyd obsessively.
CLUTCH - Strange Cousins from the West Another nice addition to an already awesome catalog. Is this out already? Alchemy Index eclipsed everything they've ever done.
The new Thrice is terrible, and this is coming from someone who loves them. For me Vheissu was the pinnacle, but literally nothing happens on Beggars.
Well, Zola Jesus for sure. Max Elliott put a good 7". Children's Hospital is great Throbbing Gristol-eqsue stuff. Blank Dogs is what you need to listen to. Also, check out the new Woods record.
my picks: Bon Iver - Blood Bank Mastodon - Crack the Skye Isis - Wavering Radiant CanNOT wait for Pelican's What We All Come to Need October release.
i keep catching Titus Adronicus on Sirius XMU and really like them a lot. Ive also always dug Pan American. nice list.
Mono's latest is still an easy top 5 for any 2009 list I come up with on the spot so I guess that would be my fav non-metal. maudlin of the Well's newest (which isn't metal) is pretty good but hasn't endured as many listens.
