I like it, reminds me of Todd Terje, although not as good. Todd Terje is awesome. In the same electronic/nu-disco/synthpop corner we find my favourite release of 2015 so far. Not rock, metal or anything related: Miami Horror's All Possible Futures. Fucking love it, if this music doesn't cheer you up you're probably snobby beyond repair. Catchy tunes, 100% positive vibes, and enough variety to fill the whole disc. Major recommendation for anyone into modern synthpop.
Hopefully 2015 will bring some good prog albums, so far I don't think I've seen anything interesting. Putting my money on Seventh Wonder and Symphony X...
You're right. It's just a POOR joke!!!!
Todd Terje is cool dancey stuff drawing a lot of influence from past decades.
Richard's Soundcloud stuff is a bit hard to categorize simply due to the sheer size and variety, but it's mostly his unreleased tracks from early to mid 90s (224 tracks in total at the time of this post). It is stylistically most comparable to other acid & ambient techno releases from that period (especially his own).
some of my favourite tunes:
But yeah, it's over 16 hours of music in total so it's a bit difficult to look all the best stuff up. I should probably consult some of the playlists folks have made at watmm.
I'm not terribly fussed about 2015 albums because I have so many old albums on my to be checked list (over 350 actually). I think in our culture there's a lot of inflated interest in what is being released right now when to me as a listener it is quite irrelevant. I just want to hear the good stuff and I know that there's huge amounts of good music from the past that I haven't yet got around to listening.
Kamelot's "Haven" is a fantastic album I think. Although I prefer their era from "The Fourth Legacy" to "Epica"; they always have sth decent, interesting, enjoyable etc. to offer.
Agreed. Insomnia, Veil of Elysium, Revolution, and Citizen Zero are all amazing. I also really like the duet, even though Charlotte from Delain usually has the most annoying voice in all of "metal".
just saw vallendusk has a new album coming out june 5th, and you can preorder it here: http://shop.northern-silence.de
just scroll down a bit
lots of great stuff this year. sulphur aeon and alkaloid have put out the two best records thus far. both are monstrous albums, especially the alkaloid record. cain's offering put out a killer album too. maybe not as good as the debut but still great. disharmonia mundi's new one is surprisingly awesome too. great riffs, blistering solos, clean vocals aren't distasteful either. the new arcturus is good but not great. same goes with the new enslaved. tech death fans should check out irreversible mechanism's record as it's excellent. george kollias's solo record is fucking sick, too. blah, im rambling. lots of good stuff worth getting though, with more to come (omnium gatherum for example).
Anyone listen to the new Arcturus???
Yeah. I liked it. Especially the opening track is great, and it is generally an interesting and good album.
Arcturian is really good. Im looking forward to seeing them live.
Praise ICS Vortex.
yeah new Arcturus is good.
thought it would suck cuz of production but it works.
In a totally unrelated subject. I tried the Påskmust for the first time the other day. Pretty fucking good!
Thanks for your input...
I want this to be a great disc in line with La Masquerade Infernale and a repeat of their last one isn't appealing since it didn't get much play from me...
How about the new Leprous album "Congregation"?
I thought the music video they released was crap.
However, the album as a whole is quite good and more interesting than Coal.
This another band that I hopes rebounds from their last out put...
I agree that the video did nothing to think it would be better than Coal...
I love Coal, so this is exciting!
I liked the music video... I thought it was a nice track.
One criticism for me is that it sounds very similar to previous tracks, which is unlike Leprous.
The verse sounds like a part from the song Echo.
believe me,it's much better than "coal",not as "bilateral" but they keep on growing with their own style,I think it will be one of the best metal release of this year.Kamelot is good too,but it seems as they're playing the same song,so after few spins I get tired of it
