Here's something about the next album. Somehow it seems more promising than STYE...

Anders Fridén told Nuclear Blast magazine, "nine or ten songs are written, and the drums will be recorded drums in two and a half weeks." As for the direction of the album, Fridén stated that "it will be more uptempo" and feature "more guitar harmonies". Most of the songs even have titles by now, but the frontman declined to name them, especially since he was still writing lyrics will travelling in support of Judas Priest. The tour ended on Monday, March 14 in Böblingen, Germany.

Let's hope touring with Priest reminded IF of their true metal roots!

This is proving to be one of the most uninspired albums in the history of metal. STYE came out a fuckin year ago and theyre already done writing. BLAH!

Colony was their peak, they aint gonna get better, no matter how Anders describes the new album. I hope Im wrong, but Im not.

So? As I'm sure you'd know, Devin Townsend released Physicist and Terria in consecutive years, and they both kick ass. Not to mention that he dropped City in 97 and then released both Biomech and Infinity in 98. A year is more than enough time to write a killer album.

For me, The Jester Race was IF's peak, and I agree, they won't get better than that, but we can still hope for an improvement. While Jesper is still in the band, there is always hope.

yea but devin's writing ability is 100000 times greater than In Flames. If In Flames had released rtr stye and this new one all in consecutive years and the music was good like their previous efforts, i wouldnt be complaining. theyre just mass producing themselves these days.

yes everyone would love for another jesterrace or colony but i think sadly even jesper cantsave this band because when it comes down to it he wrote alot of the crappy ass guitar on stye and rtr

In flames members arent stupid. They look around them and see how there sound is different and more mainstream then almost all the metal bands dron sweden. And then they see good friends like Dark Tranquillity arrive with a killer album ( character ) that is pure Dt with fast aggresif riffs and all...and its very popular! So In Flames must have some sort of envy to show everybody that they still have it in them to make good metal that is (none) manistream oriented. Thats a opinion but I think it aint that stupid....
Or they want more money and release another album quite mainstream and get even more popularity and more mtv things. Of course to make promotion they will say it is very melodic and that they cant wait to bring it out....

You choose your side...me ......I have lots of doubts....

Not Even Dead purely fucking awesome, AMYGDALA purely fucking awesome times two.
I think Inflames will do what they want to do and I really dont care because I have yet to be disappointed , yes STYE may have been weaker, but i still really liked it and just got done listening to it earlier.

They need to get that new stuff out soon! Some important people in the right places here are starting to take notice of them. (I wouldn't doubt that Swedish Grammy helped a lot.)

Chicago's one and only big media conglomerate 'Active Rock' station, The Zone (WZZN), has added The Quiet Place to their Extreme Zone programming. It's aired during the overnight hours but it's still airplay on a major! Yeaaaah baby. \m/

this would make people think that they would take an even more homosexual vibe with their new album, as getting airplay on a major is clearly what they are looking for..

    fuck that

make music not techno pop like the intro to stye (the song)

I'm sorry, I didn't know In Flames had a song called Soundtrack to your Escape.

Anyway, I think the new album will probably be a lot better than Soundtrack, maybe I should email Peter from In Flames and ask him.
