Nocturnes Mist - As Flames Burn. I've had this cd for some time but only just gotten around to listening and holy fuck is this good BM, similar to old Immortal, unfortunately can't find the second track on YouTube cause that's when things really take off.
hmmm i've never thought about it, but quite possibly! have you heard the follow up? it's just as good (one of the best BM albums of the '00s) and the story behind it is pretty fascinating.
i got curious and tried to research the first NSBM album and came across this classic wikipedia two-sentence juxtaposition:
Prominent Norwegian black metal vocalist Gaahl described "my pals" and "mulattoes" as "subhuman" and stated his support for Vikernes and Adolf Hitler. Gaahl was elected gay of the year 2010 in Bergen.
edit: Hey @MetalAges , if its not a biggie can you bring back the old :hail/worship animation? This one sucks.
Drunk as fuck and enjoying this just as much as I do every Vitus album. If that isn't a good thing well then fuck you faggot.
Have been interested in this band since the beginning, more so since Jex Thoth left the band actually. I really need to buy the latest album.
A great sign appeared in heaven: a woman clothed with the sun, with the moon under her feet and a crown of twelve stars on her head. She was pregnant and cried out in pain as she was about to give birth. Then another sign appeared in heaven: an enormous red dragon with seven heads and ten horns and seven crowns on its heads. Its tail swept a third of the stars out of the sky and flung them to the earth. The dragon stood in front of the woman who was about to give birth, so that it might devour her child the moment he was born.
I actually haven't heard it, guess I'll have to check it out! Is it similar to the first or has the sound changed in 10 years?
Heh, I love the Book of Revelation, it's so weird and mysterious. Have you heard Lordian Guard? Christian epic heavy metal with quite a few references from it. The Backworld album 'Holy Fire' has a spoken word version of your quote as intro too, not metal though.
Crippled Black Phoenix - New Dark Age. A long Ep with two new tracks(both incredible btw) of excellent prog/post rock and awesome covers of Pink Floyd's 'Echoes' pt's I&II.
it's a little different, less primitive and more emotionally charged i'd say, but it's all old material so the 11 year gap in release dates isn't a factor. i posted a mini-review of it a few months back so i'll just repost:
'this graveland side-project began in the mid-'90s, and was seemingly karcharoth's baby more than darken's. karcharoth left graveland not long after the infernum debut and his infernum was essentially put on hold in any official capacity while karcharoth allegedly (keep in mind most of this stuff comes from darken AKA the most unreliable human in existence) turned to communism *gasp* and drugs, became a police informant against the far right temple of fullmoon folks, attempted to murder fenriz (because why not?), got jailed for a while, and ultimately committed suicide in 2004. meanwhile, darken and copernicus continued their own incarnation of infernum, seemingly against karcharoth's wishes, and so in a sense infernum became just as schizophrenic as karcharoth himself, though neither version released anything much during this period.
a year after the suicide, as some kind of tribute no doubt, darken and copernicus released FAREWELL, a collection of older infernum material that had never seen the light of day. when something finally dropped after years of rumours it was a pretty big deal for a few of us, and it didn't disappoint! whether due to the emotions surrounding the pair at the time or otherwise, the record turned out arguably even better than the first, a more reflective work that outstripped many of the graveland records released in the '00s as well.'
Fucking love this album
Is it a fucking crime that I've never listened to Savatage? Probably. Oh well.
It makes sense that this sounds just like Black Sabbath but damn.
Fucking love Savatage.
