new demos done for These Branches. rock band based in NJ that i may or may not be a part of. Considering it was recorded in a basement and treated as a demo..not too bad i think but thats for you guys to decide. http://dl.dropbox.com/u/1557284/Jesse Lacey.mp3 http://dl.dropbox.com/u/1557284/Virgins Demo.mp3
Sounds like it was recorded live and everything was bleeding into every mic. How many mics did you use on the drum kit?
hmm maybe my ears are fried..where do you think the harsh is stemming from? guitars/vox? maybe the master? the drum kit was just 4 mics...re20 on kick, 57 on snare, shitty CAD OH mics standard LR. Also, i treated everything as demo so not much care went into mic placement/mixing as much as it would as when i would record LP
on Jesse Lacey both ac and elec gtr, vocals and snare. I compared your mix to a "softly mixed band" called Pantera to it, which didn't sound harsh at all compared to your mix that makes the speaker on the laptop distort. So cut down the 1-4khz area a lot.
