Can anybody recommend a good alternative to the 1176 emulation in the CLA Compressors package. I can't afford that, so looking for a cheaper next best option.

No idea about BF 76, but I actually prefer the rocket to the CLA comps in some instances.

Agreed with ermz, as much as I love the cla comps sometimes the rocket just adds something extra, especially on toms and snares (i find anyway).

Softube have a FET compressor that's on sale at the moment. Thinking about demo'ing it as I love their Trident EQ!

I love the Softube FET, KILLER compression! I like it as an alternative to the CLA and BF comps

The Rocket. Gets used all the time, and it's considerably less expensive than the Softube FET, especially if you exclusively use Reaper.

    No RTAS :(
Anyone using this successfully with the VST-RTAS wrapper?

Edit: Just tried it and it works perfectly! Though I think this might leave me stuck once we're on PT11 and AAX. Gonna do a shootout against the some other 1176 plugins soon to see which I like best either way!

Ermz did a cool shootout of 1176 plugs on bass guitar a year or two back, I remember preferring Rocket on that.

The Rocket, I love it has many presets, you can just try them once you're satisfied with one and tweak it to your needs. For its price, it is ridiculous.

    I haven't tried the CLA,

But the Waves H-Comp is very versatile, it can do a ton of stuff. I'd bet you could make it sound like a bunch of compressors.
