For those who are still mic'ing amps up, what volume are your amps set at when tracking? Are you cranking up just as you would at practice or are you cutting back the volume?

There's a different sweet spot where amps really open up, I hunt it down and use it.

I was watching one of Glenn Fricker's videos the other day and his method was to use a flashlight to see when the speakers start moving, then find where the cabinet starts to resonate, and set your level in between those.

If you have the option of putting the cab in another room, it can really help out. You will definitely hear it 'pop'.

^ yeah, but unlike Glenn's video suggests you should make sure to hunt it down with your ears. not with your eyes.
