Good point, but I'd rather hear Hetfield yelling and blowing his voice out.

I would have just ignored that post. Seriously, I've never seen that cat in here. He's got like 10 posts under his belt, and he decides to chime in on an Anthrax board about Metallica in such a defensive yet offensive way.. Maybe it's Lars Ulrich??!?!

But yeah, it's crickets in the boards now. I remember back in the day, if you didn't check it daily, you'd be completely out of the loop on all topics and discussions.

First of all, i am not a big Metallica fan. They became a joke. And i'm not talking about the more accessible albums. That's what they wanted do, it's their decision. I'm talking about bad live shows, awful albums (st. anger, DM) pathetic movies exposing the bands conflicts, the collaboration with Lou Reed (i like Velvet Underground, but some things just don't go together) loss of touch with their fan base, Hetfield's ridiculous catch phrases live (Are you alive? Are you with Metallica? Metallica is with you! Really??), and so on.

Second, i shouldn't have called you an idiot, and for that i apologize. I don't know you, i cant judge you by an internet post.

What i didn't like about what you wrote, was that it sounded like the rebellious kids of today that hate Metallica, just because they're popular. There's no other reason. They became a Spinal Tap kind of joke, playing green day live, etc. But, as cheesy as they are nowadays, they always helped old friends (the big 4, for example), and always gave chances to new bands to tour with them (Mastodon, The Sword). That's worthy of respect, in my book.

About their 80's stuff: I should have explained why they became so big, without being so aggressive. But i think you should have studied a bit more about Metallica's lyrics and song structure in their early albums. You would notice big differences from what the other bands were doing. They were very creative, experimental in a good way, and a few steps ahead from everybody on the thrash genre, that they defined in my opinion.

There, i think it was clearer today. I had a really bad day yesterday, was feeling sick, hence the bad temper.

Sorry again, i hope this cleared the air!

P.S. - I'm not Lars Ulrich, i'm a music fan and musician from southern Europe, that's why some of my sentences may be a little off.

    Stay cool!

If I never heard then name Metallica ever again, heard their cd's, or was forced to see them in concert I would care less. They are by far the most over hyped band in history. 3 great albums with Master, Ride the Lightning, and .. and Justice for All. Kill em all was good for its time but not a great album in general. Black is very commercial but listenable..after that they were absolute garbage

Ill stick with new releases from thrash bands that never sold out such as testament, Slayer, exodus, kreator, and old school death metal

    No problems. Accepted.

For the record I dont hate them. Like Kirkland here and it seems, you, I think they are OK up until anything after the black album.

Im still astounded how they got so big - probably the more mainstream black album.

Lars is a dick though - didnt even show up for the aftershow in Glasgow! My CD is missing a signature!

Jason is a top bloke mind.
