Last show was Saturday so I would think somebody would be back by now. Maybe everyone is taking some days off to catch up on other priorities or they are taking the scenic route back from Utah.

I hope everyone is back safe and sound.

YES! We are back!!! What a whirlwind of a trip! Don't even know where to start except a heartfelt THANK YOU to EVERYBODY who made this leg of the tour an outstanding success and SO MUCH FUN!!! All I can say is that Maiden is sooo alive in the U.S. It was an honor to play this music for all the Maiden fanatics in Texas, Utah, Arizona and Nevada and a pleasure to meet you all! Thanks so much to our crew and our street teamers and everybody who made this trip so much fun! Gotta run and do an interview with the English Channel 4 for a documentary now! They are in my living room setting up and the rest of the girls are patiently waiting! Cheers!! :headbang:

It's still such a blur in my mind!! But we did meet a bunch of journalists from the London tabloids who were in Vegas to do a story on the evils of Las Vegas and gambling....except they loved it there and thought it was great!! So we may get a blurb here and there. :kickass:

The driver made it home OK as well.

Great shows ladies! And thank you for your gracious hospitality throughout the tour!

    Worst backseat driver?

Machelli (aka the Magellan Road Navigator GPS, as renamed by RJ) gets the 'worst backseat driver' award hands down. While useful at times, my truck driver instincts were ready to throw it out and drive over it multiple times to make sure it was dead. Machelli got left home on the second leg of the tour.

Honorable mention goes to Liz, who kept me steadily informed as to the temperatures and volume level adjustments needed at the back of the van...
    :p

How many are we there yets?

Too many to count on the drive between Houston and Phoenix. Sara is the 'are we there yet' king, and we had some amusing banter on that subject.
"Sara, I have good news and bad news. The bad news is we are not there yet. The good news is I saved a buttload of money by switching my auto insurance to Geico!"

"Someone have the tranq gun ready to drop Sara if she tries to bolt this stop..."

I think we ALL were a little stir crazy after that drive...

Biggest "Where the fugg are we" moment...

Hmmm, for me that would be in Flagstaff where Machelli, rather than having us exit at the freeway exit where the hotel was, decided it would be cool to take the 'back way' into Flagstaff. Learn me to not look at the map first...

    Other amusing moments

The constant upgrading/downgrading of the merch man's title "Platinum Joe", who was downgraded to "Cardboard Joe" at some point, then upgraded again sometime later. Joe did a great job selling merch though, and has retained his "Platinum" status.

Seeing "Kenny" with the snow parka hood drawn tight with the cookie monster slippers in my rear view mirror...

    Most annoying weather

While the crowd and show was kickass, playing outside at Cooperstown in Phoenix with the soot/sand/smog and brisk winds stirring them all up (and dusting the equipment quite nicely) was a little grim. EVERYONE was coughing up dust after that gig...

Favorite opening band I managed to see

That would be Ignitor (http://www.ignitor.org). The female lead has hella stage presence!!!

Best food (from the driver's point of view)

That would be the Bumbleberry Restaurant just outside of Zion National Park. My steak was very tasty.

    Best scenery

Zion National Park in Utah. We went there on one of our days off. If you ever go, make sure to take the shuttle to see all the cool stuff that is now off limits to regular vehicles!

    'Closest' call with the weather.

Narrowly avoiding the heat wave in Texas. It hit 100 degrees in several parts shortly after we left...

Also, we missed the several weeks of snow in Utah while we were touring Arizona and Texas. It never 'stuck' in the valleys, and the storms were gone by the time we arrived on Thursday April 20th...

Coolest thing done by a fan (from my perspective)

The guy in St George who made the gals a Route 666 sign.

    Most grateful crowd (IMHO)

St. George. They were constantly telling us how suprised they were that the Maidens were actually playing St. George, as they don't get many tours going through there.

Most popular buy at the truck stops

That would be those $19.99 metal briefcases at Pilot (dunno if they are still on sale now). Mark and Chris bought several, and I even bought one for Troy (Triamid Productions).

    Mechanical mishaps

None, although I did replace one tire while in El Paso due to poor manufacturing, to avoid having it blow out later. The psychotic vents in the front of the van were interesting - sometimes the AC would come through the floor vent, then the dash vent, then the defrost vent, changing constantly as we were driving down the road. At least it kept the van cool!. It has been suggested that the Mr Toast Ram Van Of Doom (tm) is indeed possessed...

    Suckiest part of the trip

About half of us getting some kind of cold/flu bug thingie in Texas. I'm sure several are wondering how I managed NOT to hack up a lung with all that coughing. Allergy and cold remedies were hot commodities on our trip! Tonya of Shredbettie ended up with a pus pocket in her throat and was highly contagious after coming home from El Paso (they traveled in a separate vehicle to El Paso), forcing Shredbettie to cancel two shows! She was sufficiently recovered for the Midvale show though.

There, that should keep you suitably amused for a bit!

My parents live just outside of St George... I can tell you from experience that the folks there are STARVING for good live rock n' roll! I was so tempted to head up there for the Maidens' show, but alas, I was forced to actually go to work. I'm really glad the ladies had a great show there!

    Funny stuff TJ thanks.
I'm gonna have to ask Joe his "status" next time. :p

I was wondering on that Houston to Phoenix leg. That must have been a long haul. :zombie: :zombie: :zombie: Your own version of the Rime of the Ancient Mariner eh?

Saki Samurai?????? I bet that is a tale.

It was really great to have some real metal come this way again, other than Metal Church last year this place is dry. We all had a great time at the show(even though there was more smoke in that little bar then on a good day in Fontana). Spread the word that Southern Utah is starved for some METAL.

Welcome, StickyVictim! Thanks for making it out to the show - Southern Utah rocked so hard!!! Didja happen to notice the guy who was parked in front of my monitor for most of the show. He kept doing a rapper kind of grabbing his crotch type dance. It was a riot!

I was getting my car sandblasted on the way to the opposite end of the valley about the same time the show was going to start, and I was thinking how crappy it would have been to be standing out in all that dust and wind. It almost (almost!) made me happy I didn't go...
