Does anyone know if Arch Enemy's pre-Angela Gossow albums are worth getting? I'm really digging their latest two albums.
I have heard one song from their early days called "Cosmic Retribution" and I think it's still quality music. But I enjoy Wages of Sin with Angela, it's a great album imo.
The "Burning Bridges" -album (last one with Johan Liiva on vocals) is the best for me of the old-albums. For me it has greatest guitar work that they have showed thusfar... Cheers! Marre
Yes, they are worth it. I haven't heard "Black Earth", but it is supposed to be excellent. "Burning Bridges" and "Stigmata" are two of the best albums I've ever heard. They definitely lost something special when Johan left. Sure, I like their recent stuff to an extent, but they were truly a force to be reckoned with back in their heyday. Check them out; I don't see how you can be disappointed. The riffs are better, and although Johan isn't nearly as good a singer as Angela, he's far deeper and adds something great overall. Can't go wrong with 'em, really.
Arch Enemy's earlier works are beyond impressive. Stigmata is my personal favorite of their past albums. The new ones rule too especially Wages of Sin.
