totally brutal, just got a "copy" of the newest disc today and im definetly diggin it, anyone elses opinions?
Yeah, they are good. I've listened to them since their demo days, and while I still think their demos are better ACOG is very, very good.
They're really good but something about them sounds a little too upbeat or bouncy for the style they play. I don't know if anyone else would agree with me though.
I love happy, bouncy music. That said, Arsis are awesome. If more bands follow suit and begin injecting that much effort, technicality, and new non-cliché'd melodies into their writing, we could have a new movement of melodic death. It would really put the death back into it, y'know?
The Face of Innocence has one of the most beautiful and soothing melodies in it, and it's great because it's buried under a collage of heavy-duty riffs and double-bass drums, and as the song progresses through that short melody(only twice in the song), it feels like a flower unfolding its petals or a banana peel descending down as if in slow motion. It's like something gorgeous being enveloped ina hard exterior shell and slowly being unwrapped. The mosh section in double time in the song's bridge is very \m/, and the solos are magnificent. The beauty of that one melody is so amazing that I'm reduced to attempting to relate it to flowers and bananas. It's THAT good.
Check out Kronos, Intestine Baalism, and Fragments of Unbecoming. All part of the newer movement of actual melodic DEATH metal. Oh, and Arsis is great. Their album is on my top ten of this year.
I've heard of the last two you mentioned. I've been meaning to check them out. Aren't Intestine Baalism Japanese? Japan has a big fanbase for melodeath and power metal. It's about time they started REALLY getting their feet into the metal game. Cheers!
Great Band! I cant stop listening to them since I got the Album especially the first track, The Face of My Innocence. Awesome!!
