  1. Just a heads up... In the next week or two we will be making some major upgrades to the site to bring the software and server fully up to date. While the upgrade happens the site will be offline for the day. There will be some quirkiness after the upgrade, but we'll get it all sorted out.

A while back there was a thread about a regular ProgPower attendee that died. His name was Ray, and he was one of the people I always looked forward to talking to every year. I can't find the thread, but is there any way you could find it and include a photo of him with something like "Here in spirit" on this year's poster? Maybe this could become a tradition, remembering friends that can no longer come. I've been coming to PPUSA every year since IV and besides all the great bands and vendors, this show has become a family reunion as well. I'd like to think that if the day comes that I can no longer attend, someone would do something like that for me.

Hey, I think I have him in a photo from last year's ProgPower. Isn't that him with Saint Daemon?

Or make just a poster with a big photo of him in the middle, hang it, attach a pen to it and everyone sign it.

Does anyone know how to get said poster and sigs to his family? I think taht would be pretty darn heartwarming for his family to know that even though we dont wall remember each others names from year to year - that he is missed by more people than they probably ever even thought:headbang:

That could be a good idea. Does anyone else have a photo or two that could be included? How big should it be?

Big enough for a ton of signatures, now you got me going, let's get as many of the bands to sign as possible also.

Wouldn't Deron have a record of e-mail address for his sister, and from there a way to get the poster to the family.

Please correct me if I'm wrong, but couldn't one do a search for the user name and then select "send a message via email" when you click on the user name? :)

Ray was a great guy. Avatar Records was a top notch store. Even though I only got to visit a few times when I was training at Ft. Knox, KY. I also ordered some cds from him later on. He ran the kind of store metalheads loved. The kind you could hang out listen to metal and talk about metal. He didn't have to use a store computer to look something up to see if he had it in stock.

I have been a friend, and customer, of Raymonds for MANY years. I know this will mean A LOT to his friends and family. I will try to get ahold of Matt who I believe is still in contact with the family. I want to personally thank you guys for this, as it means sooo much to me too. You guys are the greatest.

Whoa, I must have missed the thread from a few months ago about this. I met Raymond like 3 - 4 years ago, when we both happened to be standing at the same vendor table. He struck up a conversation regarding the shirt I was wearing, and we wound up talking for like 15 minutes. Even in that short span of time it was clear he had a real passion for the music. Unfortunately in future years I didn't have the opportunity to converse with him much beyond a greeting and handshake. I certainly didn't know him anywhere near as well as many who have posted here, but even from the little I knew him, it comes as no surprise to see he had so many friends. I am saddened to learn of his death. RIP, man.
