Can anyone give me the names of some bands like Venom? I don't care for the overt satanism, but the music is awesome, and I just can't get enough of "Black Metal" or "At War With Satan". Suggestions?

^Don't listen to the above post, I'll appropriately direct you.

There's no band that 'sounded like Venom' their entire career, but I can give you albums influenced by Venom:

    Hellhammer - Apocalyptic Raids
    Bathory - Bathory
Sodom - In The Sign Of Evil
    Kreator - Endless Pain
Exorcist - Nightmare Theater (Good luck finding that one.)

Venom are very unique - very old low fi Black Metal but not quite Black Metal.

They were called Italy's answer to Venom.

I'll have to check them out if I can find one of their albums when I next look in vinyl exchange. I'm going to no more trouble than that to find them though.

Yeah, that's why I recommended them. And I think they do actually sound like Venom, though the riffs are less blues/panatonic-based.

Thanks. I already have Celtic Frost, Bathory, Motorhead and Possessed though. I'll check out Bulldozer and some of the rest if I can find them.

Your best bet to find Bulldozer would be to download them off Soulseek.

If not there if you just want to hear the albums you can check almost all of them out at www.vibrationsofdoom.com

The site is down now, but when it's back up, you can check out full Bulldozer albums in realaudio format.

Virtually every blackened thrash band, except that most of them find the time to be good, whereas Venom didn't. And Venom is not black metal.
