If you enjoy Cynthesis, I would highly recommend checking out Oddland.

On another note, I'll add my vote to Powerwolf. They seem like they'd be a ton of fun.

I thought about this too. Given the clips I saw of their first show it seems like it would be fun. I know nothing about the business side of tours etc, but it seems like it would be in the bands best interest to play the festival to try to reconnect with a fan base they seem to be courting. Perhaps taking less money(?) for a show to restore/establish some credibility.

Personally, I already know I'll be happy with whatever the official announcement ends up being but, having said that, it is fun to play along. I don't really have anything original to add (what are the odds given the fact that you good people are much more well-versed in the music world than I) but I'll throw out some names anyway.....

    Anathema
    Dark Moor
The Gathering (sweet talking Anneke into participating a few songs would make a dream come true)
    Unisonic
Unexpect (they throw everything at you live and it is a true spectacle to see/hear)

If lyrics not entirely sung in English were a non-issue:

In Extremo (they have a good catalog of music, much of which is quite catchy, and are a blast live)
Mago de Oz (I think I see a few of you picking up rocks to throw at me as I type this.... but they also have lots of catchy tunes and are a blast live)
Arkona (an oddball choice I'd love to see; the vocalist's energy alone could power Atlanta if its electric grids blacked out)

A group I would LOVE to see for the Wednesday or Thursday night shows would be:

Saga (a vast catalog, seldom tour in the USA, and I'd think their stuff is varied enough that at least some parts of whatever they chose to play live would appeal to the majority; and they are extremely talented musicians, especially since their original singer has returned to the fold)

That is a good point. Still the two bands really should not be compared they are really different. Now Earthshaker would be cool or a reunion of the old Japanese supergroup Heavy Metal Army.

Are EARTHSHAKER even still together? Hell, if we are going deep Japanese catalog then we can get deep with 44 MAGNUM! they did some shows recently. but honestly besides Loudness, Anthem has the deepest most solid catalog.

X would be the best decision; and accounting to what Dio told me about the NY show it would bring in A LOT of Japanese people.

Can agree with most of it but seriously Malice / Helstar is there a difference at this point? And as we argued last night I still say TTD would surprise everyone. Still there are so many others like the Fifth Angel reunion? And Hammers of Misfortune would be incredible. But of have given up on the idea that the fest will have much to my personal taste, still Pretty Maids is enough this year for me.

I'd love to see Fifth Angel. Ted Pilot's voice will be missed, but David Fefolt is an excellent singer that will do the job just fine. Speaking of him, his band FireWölfe would be great, with stuff played also from Hawk and Angels Of Babylon....

I'm guessing X is a bit too big. Same with Mago de Oz, as much as I'd love to see that happen.

They may be. At the same time, if either were to work, I think ProgPower USA would gain quite a few new fans/attendees...

Are you guys talking about X Japan? Because seriously, I went to NYC just to see them and was almost killed in the crush at the front of the stage. WORTH IT. Would basically kill to see them. They're the first band I ever fell in love with ever.

Unfortunately, they don't play their more "metal" tunes anymore. They broke up because Toshi joined a cult or something. This happened.

    http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=_9SXaqGJ-vY&feature=youtu.be

Then hide died. Then Yoshiki did a bunch of 7-11 commercials and tried to create some kind of rock band in England that never went anywhere. Then I guess they realized that they should get back together again, and wound up doing the end song for Saw IV.

They've been making some good stuff again, but I wish they'd do more of this!

I really like Hawk, it is one of my favorite 80s metal albums. I too think he would work out fine. But hey if all else fells they could call Rivera.
