Is it just me, or is it incredibly disrespectful to talk about honoring a singer on a day dedicated to people who risked death in war? I like Barlow too, but shit, dude, this is ridiculous.

Dude, even worse...the school where my mom works renamed Veteran's day as "Murphy Middle School Day". I say it's sacrilege. Fucking anti-patriots.

I'm not particularly patriotic (I fucking LOATHE the current administration), but that sort of idiocy is just insulting. My grandfather was wounded in World War II; you're gonna tell me singing in a fuckin metal band (no matter how good) is comparable to that? Morons.

I think you're over analyzing this, dude. I don't particularly care that this thread was created on Veteran's Day. I had 2 grandfathers who fought bravely in World War II, but I don't think the guy meant any disrespect...

For being so quick to jump on me ya need to sit back and chill out man. I've had relatives in WWII as well as Vietnam. But I dont hold any contempt towards him. You may notice he is the "Polish Bastard" and that he is from Vancouver. Perhaps he may not know what Rememberance Day is.

I find no offense meant by your statement...I believe that honoring Matt Barlow on Veterans day doesn't matter, it's just a day like any other, except part of the day goes to remembering our Veterans. Also, Pyrus...you can still be patriotic but hate the administration. I feel Bush isn't nearly as agressive as he should be :p. I hate Conservatives and I hate liberals, but holy shit do I love the U.S. I'm a patriot all the way, but I hate politics.

Alright. I just found it kinda ridiculous to be comparing Matt to people whose country sent them off to die, y'know? It's like, "Let's honor a metal singer on the same exact level as people who died in war." Cheapens what happened to them, in my opinon.

    But whatever.

^ funny you should ask, i thinking they went to Afghanistan to help the US "liberate" it. The funny part ( which is not really that funny ) is that the US bombed a canadians troop station and killed , i think , 6 Canadians. And i think it was canada who joined world war II about 2 years before the USA did. They didnt want to got to Iraq because any person in there right mind would not follow Bush into such counter-productive campaign. and wasnt it the US who didnt want to fight Iraq in the Gulf war ( in 1991). Im just saying Canada only goes to war when they feel its a nessesity.

Canada's foreign policy is total genius. What other country that size has managed to be so universally ignored? I dunno how they pull it off, but they live in peace isolated from the rest of the world's bullshit. Good times.

Alright, I guess I just view Veteran's Day as more for the remembrance of the unjustly killed. It has nothing to do with being patriotic (which I'm really not); just a different perspective. No harm done.

I dunno about the last time, but Canada sent troops to D-Day.

My point was, they get on with the shit they've got and run a perfectly pleasant, generally liberal country (at least socially) without getting wrapped up in other nation's bullshit. They don't fuck with anyone else's business, and nobody else really fucks with them. It's quite excellent.

I could care less about politics...I say we should all be united together under the US or something, then get rid of races and say we're all humans...If we all distributed our money, making everyone not poor, and not rich, then it'd be as perfect as it could get. But hey, that's just ideals...it would never really work, because of human nature. Greedy bastards.
