obZen's my fave so far this year. Watershed will be pretty soon, though. Hopefully the new Metallica record can bring them back some dignity...!
And my list... The album we are not supposed to talk about is number one Black Mountain - In the Future Portishead - Third (amazing!!!) Black Keys - Attack And Release Gnarls Barkeley - Odd Couple Bloodbath - Blessing... Racounteurs Nick Cave and the Bad Seeds - Dig Lazarus Dig And once the new Sigur Ros drops Im sure that will just blow me away
Later this year. They have been gradually recording for a while. Does any one know if Enslaved are releasing this year. Heaps of people keep talking about how awesome its gonna be, but I can't find any info.
Forgot to mention Warrel Dane's Praises To The War Machine. I just got it, and so far he doesn't dissapoint!
I really enjoy every album but they seem to be getting less aggressive with each release. RUUN did not have enough aggressive parts. I hope the new alum is a mix of new ideas and also a return to their grim roots.
I wonder if they'll push the Isa/Ruun style further or head into new territory.. I kind of hope it'll be something new.. But i'm not quite sure what.
Right now, Earth - The Bees Made Honey In The Lion's Skull (classic) Agalloch - The White EP Opeth - Watershed (at least what I've heard from it) Waiting for Moonsorrow's "EP" (not out in the US until next week) Need to check out Portishead, Cynic, Trinacria
My favorite so far is Remembering Universe by Humanoid. Runners up include: Agalloch - The White Arsis - We Are The Nightmare Bloodbath - Unblessing The Purity Decrepit Birth - Diminishing Between Worlds Grails - Take Refuge In Clean Living The Mars Volta - The Bedlam In Goliath This Will Destroy You - This Will Destroy You And I'm looking forward to new albums from Alarum, Augury, Cynic, Gnostic, Gorod, Gojira, Opeth, Quo Vadis, Wintersun and others.
+1 the new Earth album is fantastic imo. Definietly check out Portishead's Third and the new Trinacria.
So far a top 7... 1- Opeth- Watershed 2- Esoteric- The Maniacal Veil 3- Cult of Luna- Eternal Kingdom 4- Portishead- Third 5- Agalloch- The White EP 6- Earth- The Bees Made Honey In The Lion's Skull 7- This will destroy you- s/t Theres a few others, but atm thats my top. But the year is young and bands like massive attack, sigur ros, negura bunget, enslaved etc....still to come and I'm sure will mix that list around. It's nice to see Opeth with some tough competition within metal rather than raping the years metal releases like some years.
