they recently stated in an interview that the rest of the writing + recording wasn't going to be happening until late 09 at the earliest, so I wouldn't expect a new album until probably summer 2010.

    Reviewing the thread...

    Mastodon - Crack the Skye

...seems to be the most appreciated 2009 album by people posting here. I agree with them as I am now part of the group for posting this.

Most appreciated is Mastodon but let's be honest, BAN and Isis albums this year are clearly superior.

That's what the "most appreciated" concept is all about. Generally people won't agree with you, but I guess I could; and since I never heard those, well I just won't! Heh.

I just listened to the new Manes album(Solve et Coagula) and that's some good stuff.
Manes and BAN are the best so far this year.

lol @ isis, what a gigantic letdown.

    atm these are rocking:
mournful congregation - the june frost
blut aus nord - mv2: dialogue with the stars
    mastodon - crack the skye
ava inferi - blood of bacchus
    dtp - ki
    hallucinogen - in dub: live

havent really checked out any non-metal releases, I still have to listen to that mono record

Well Oceanic was amazing but I'd agree about the other two having weak spots. Panopticon was great for the first 4 songs but I pretty much never listen to the last 3 songs.

Also, listened to it again, the new Katharsis album is pretty sweet really.
