i don't think borknagar's first album is enough to put them in a category with emperor... the two just don't compare.
    borknagar have transcended black metal...

emperor is... just beautiful beyond words... by far my favorite black metal act, i consider them the best.

Well, to be honest...emperor only really has 2 "Black Metal" albums...and mayhem not having many releases either (other than dozens of live ones)...etc...so i dont see why the amount of releases makes a band worthy or not worthy to be on this list...especially since i made the list...so i am your ruler on this thread heather...DEAL WITH IT. ;)

p.s. satyricon has more "black metal" albums than emperor does, and ulver is tied with them....we also have emperor to thank for such bands as dimmu, cradle, and the rest of the 12th generation black metal (using that term about as loosely as the town prostitute) bands that have come out. Dont get me wrong, i love emperor's stuff...but lets keep things in perspective and not be so opinionated...i doubt you have even heard borknagar's first album.

*heather reserves the right to not be ruled*

i own the self-titled borknagar, as well as the rest of their catalogue... as they are by far my favorite band

i still hold that emperor is the best black metal band. anthems to the welkin at dusk, nobody comes close...

    so consider this:

Lets see now. Emperor is dead and they were no longer BM (which is not to sayi dont like them, they still are my favorite band of all time), so i went with Darkthrone. I cant wait for Hate Them to come out. DT has stayed true to their sound throught the years.

Wow, this thread is really old, I even see my old nick here...
Anyway, my vote will still be Ulver, but Burzum, Immortal, and the old Borknagar is very close to the 1th place. I never even liked Satyricon though, of some reason, except for their masterpiece Mother North, but I don't like the rest.

I'd also vote for Enochian Crescent...

But out of that list I'll say Graveland, mainly because they are still producing quality music, unlike most of the bands on the list.

Argh, that was a hard one, because of there being quite many bands to choose from, which i like (Emperor, Borknagar, Ulver, Satyricon, Darkthrone, Mayhem). Finally, i've decided to vote for mayhem, to whom i listen very much in recent times.

Really would like to go with the Borkies, but the new Satyricon is a blast, so I chose 'em...

Personally I must say that Im very much into Immortal, I like the fact that they dont just have "satanic" lyrics and stuff like that, but more fantasy inspired stuff :headbang:

Man, that was a tough one with such greats as Emperor, Mayhem, and Immortal. Finally I had to go with Emperor as Anthems was my first black metal album.

IF YOU'D OF ASKED ME THAT WHEN I WAS FOURTEEN, I WOULD OF SAID CRADLE OF FILTH. THEY WERE MY FIRST BLACK METAL BAND. BUT 4 YEARS ON AND CURRENTLY MY FAVOURITES, AND IN MY OPPINION THE BEST ARE BURZUM, MAYHEM, BORKNAGAR AND EMPEROR. ALTHOUGH, AT THE MOMENT I HAVE AN UNEXPLAINABLE LACUNA COIL OBSESSION, AND ALTHOUGH THEY ARE IN NO WAY BLACK METAL. THEY ARE STILL CLOGGING UP MY STEREO!!
