    I think my tops for the year looks like this currently:

    Architects - For Those that Wish to Exist
    Benthos - II
    Erra - Erra
    VOLA - Witness

    And there are some heavy hitters coming in the fall.

    So far, I've only bought two metal albums this year. Haven't listened enough to either to say they are going to be amongst the best this year.

    The Dark Horse, White Horse debut packs a nice punch. Marcela is fantastic.

    Picked up the Iotunn album Access All Worlds and its been in my rotation ever since. With Jon Aldara's vocals, if you like Barren Earth, then you'll probably like Iotunn. Both could be classified as progressive melodic death metal.

    Update: add the new Helloween album to the list.
    also add Accept's Too Mean to Die
