    King Diamond

Best known for Mercyful Fate and King Diamond

    - Choose the one song that you think has King Diamond's best performance as an individual musician.

    - We are not trying to choose the overall best song that he appears on. We're looking for his best vocal performance.

    - I'll leave this open for the next two weeks. Have your vote in by then or it won't be counted.

    - Please also vote for a single musician that you'd like to see featured in a future poll.

going to blow my load a little early here, but it has to be "Abigail" for me. The eerie and infectious call and response in the verses are pinnacle.

I don't really know though. I just love that fucking EP and King's vocals there.

I have a feeling the answers may end up being too disparate for this to work and people will have to concede and consolidate opinion.

Off the top of my head I'd go with Melissa but pretty much anything from the first two Mercyful Fate or solo albums could qualify. I might relisten to those albums and change my mind.

If that happens we could start doing a top 3/5 or something.

"A Corpse Without Soul" has my vote, by the way. It's definitely one of his wildest performances and it has that amazing falsetto at the end. That said, it's hard to really go wrong and all of the suggestions so far are great.

Really, I could vote for anything off that first EP or "Satan's Fall" and be happy with my decision.

Satan’s Fall gets my vote, but a close second is No Presents for Christmas, he’s excellent on that one.

It's a toss up between "Satan's Fall" and "Tea" for me.
