Hey guys, As I type this, we're in the process of merging all of the sub forums (ie: News/Gigs and Off-Topic) back into the main forum, so we basically only have a single forum from now on. When we split the forum up initially, the net was an entirely different place. Social media hadn't really taken hold so much and the place to be was on various forums around the net if you wanted to interact with the band and other fans. Now with social media taking the main focus for everyone, traffic around here has dropped to barely a whisper. A far cry from the crazy days of 2006 when you'd see dozens of people on here and so many new threads being created we had to take some drastic action by appointing extra moderators, adding new sub forums and being fairly strict about the rules so everyone could enjoy themselves. But yes, things have changed and all of that extra stuff is a little redundant now. By the time most of you guys read this, I would say the work will be done and this place will look a lot different. There'll likely be a bit of time for the dust to settle and we work out where all of our threads have gone, and possibly some subscriptions to some threads may need to be redone. Shouldn't take us all too long to make it feel like home all over again. Onwards!
I definitely miss how busy the forums used to be! I'm guilty myself of forgetting about the place at times
Good idea. Perhaps you could add a section to the FAQ/Read First thread that links to some of the most important LORD-related threads, like Questions for LT and Questions for Andy.
If the cap fits... I don't really get why people have abandoned forums. I find of all my facebook friends, only a small percentage will be into the type of music I am, so if I want to talk music I'm much better off here.
Bloopy - yeah, there was a "Handy thread links" thread that absolutely no one read! HAHA! But it was fairly outdated anyway. I'll do another one soon.
It seems only the niche and technical forums have survived, you can't get Q&A on car problems for example, on farcebook. Also, could you please change the reply box format, the box is dark grey and the font is black, I have to change the lettering to white so I can read it/reply to it as I type. s
Any chance of changing this to a more user friendly colour scheme with a bit more contrast? When you reply you get a dark grey background in the reply box; it's very hard to see black text as I'm typing. s
Yep, seeing this in Firefox and found the element that's causing it. Every other browser, including mobile browsers, ignores this colour setting though, so a workaround would be to use something else in the interim. Chrome is my suggestion, and if you have an Android phone, it's probably the best choice anyway with sync'ing things between each other. I'll get onto Deron and see if this is an easy fix. Most stuff on these forums can be customised but there's a lot of database driven code that writes the CSS for you, so it might just be a case of the forum software not doing its job rather than a setting the admin can just go in and change.
