Got mine today Timmeh, up to track 10 and I have to say it's Fucking Awesome™. Also, it must be nice to have your years of production experience to make this first album, because it shows. Imagine if you had this when Dungeon was starting! That's not a dig at early Dungeon stuff of course, you did well with what you had. :D

You never know what those Dungeon albums would sound like if they were recorded today. ;)

And yeah, the production is pretty huge for Blackened Angel. I didn't want to go too far and have it ultra perfect like LORD is because it still had to have some rough edges like Serenity Defiled does but the orchestration really adds a lot of "big" to it all. Considering how it was all recorded and how fast we did it, I'm fairly happy how it all came up. :)

Finished it and listened through again today... very solid stuff and it flows nicely :)

Also, a side note... I'm guessing it costs SFA to add CD-TEXT to the pressing, right? I love that you're doing it and I wish every publisher would do it. Strikes me as such a simple thing to add!

Yeah, it's really just a case of filling in the information before the master is created, really - 5 minute job. Dunno who most people don't do it!

I remember checking out this thread a long time ago but I only got round to buying the CD in the last few weeks. Must have gone off my radar for some reason.

Very impressed though and it was great to see you getting praise on twitter from Dom Lawson about it!

Totally stoked at the reactions to it so far. This was really something we were doing because we said we were gonna do this for the last 15 years but never fucking did! HAHA! But yeah, it really grew from just a bunch of riffs into something that's really complex and involved that we're really proud of, so it' nice to see other people enjoying it too. :)

    Did you see the clip?

I remember around the time Ascendence came out there was talk on the forum about whether or not you should do more of the harsh vocals with LORD (because of Limb From Limb I believe). Never thought I'd hear a full albums worth.

Any plans for a continuation of this project?

Yep, in fact I know Rick has an album's worth of riffs already and we've mapped out the basic concept of the story (it'll be another concept album), but I'm so tied up with LORD stuff this year I'd say we won't be getting to it until early 2015 for a mid-year release. The plan is to still having this about The Blackened Angel but since his story was finished in Chronicles, how we feature him in the next album will be a pretty cool spin on it all, and will give us a lot of scope to bring in a cool new element to it all. And that's all I'm saying! :p

Perfect. That will give me plenty of time to digest this album. I've only had a few listens so far so I'm not fully into the concept yet. I will have to sit down with the lyrics and allow it to sink in properly. I'm glad to hear that there will be more but I'm pleased you are focusing on the LORD stuff.

By the way, I see the MySpace link in your signature. Time to remove it?

Yeah, all of our MySpace sites are gone now. We looked at keeping the LORD one but the way they were doing music was ridiculous - it would fetch songs that it *thought* were LORD and feature them on our page. Way to go, useless computer algorithm. If you wanted us to stick around in this ghost town, that's NOT the way to do it.

And yeah, sit with the lyrics, and the illustrations in the booklet help a bit as well (if you have a physical copy). :)

I was giving Chronicles of Damnation another listen. Any plans to do anything more with this project?

Yep, got the next album half written now. It's another concept album and it originally had a different story line, but we decided to take it in a different direction which delayed it a lot. Should have been out sometime this year but I'd say expect it sometime next year if all goes well. :)

Speaking of Blackened Angel related things, Rick's main band has a new track out that I did quite a bit of stuff on, and the clip:

I'm actually scoring a 10 minute long "movie" version of that clip now... I tell you what, with proper movie music and the right timing in the build-ups, it's scary as fuck!

Wow that's killer. Please post the 10 minute version when it's up.

My 4yo is into scary dolls at the moment, and was asking what the name of the doll in the clip was. I said Anastasia.
