Freaky childhood flashback: They are showing the Sound of Music on TV...and I'm it's kind of scary - I know all the songs. I haven't seen this film for many years...but when I was very young I had the LP (kind of like a big black CD for you young punks). That record is probably what helped develop my musical abilities...along with the Country Bear Jamboree and the Tiki Room records. No wonder my dad won't go back to Disneyland, he probably heard those records about a zillion times. Man I must be getting tired. Please feel free to add your 2 cents, or not... So long, farewell, auf wiedersehn, good bye I hate to go, and leave this web site LowGuitar253
Hey...............I know ALL those Sound of Music tunes by heart I had Mary Poppins and Robin Hood Disney records...
No Way! I still have this album! I also listened alot to Sesame Street stuff... Burt has a cool gutteral tone to his voice and Big Bird is funny.
Shit, here's one for ya... I still can't resist throwing in that damned Chipmunks Christmas record every Chirstmas at my parents' house! It'll always be a part of me, and what better way to learn harmonies growing up, eh? I found out years ago on my turntable that if you put that album on slow speed - the voices of Alvin, Simon and Theodore are all actually Dave Seville's voice. Gotta love the vinyl.
I put my radio up next to teh speaker just to record the music to Gi Joe , Thundercats , and Mask (Not amny people remember Mask)
It's all about the Muppet Movie Soundtrack. It rocks from start to finish. I've always looked up to animal for inspration and his drumming abilities
I believe Animal is coming out with drum lessons on DVD soon. Or maybe it's just a pipe dream I have.... LowGuitar253
I think I still have mine somewhere...but no record player! However (and this shows you how much I enjoy Disneyland stuff) I managed to find the entire County Bear Jamboree show as an MP3 file online. Too bad they tore it all down. I have a feeling Big Al seceretly listened to a lot of Motorhead, played a BC Rich Eagle and had 4 Marshall stacks in the dressing room. I always wondered what the deal with Bert and Ernie was. Apparently, they are grown men who live together and share a room.....OH......never mind...now I get it. LowGuitar253
When I was little I wanted to reproduce their little puppet show: High on the hill lived a lonely goatherd Lady o-da-lady o-da-lay heee hoooo! I suppose your Eddie is kind of like a giant live action puppet show! I think those songs (along with some old Beach Boys album) taught me all about harmonies and such. LowGuitar253
When I was a kidlet, we had several Smurf sing-along 8-Tracks that I just used to love! "The smurfs all star show... it really is the greatest / we know we know we know..." hehheheehhh...
Maybe we should locate those smurfs that never got air time, Metal Smurf, Guitar Smurf, and Bass Smurf?
Awwww... I have a little figurine of "guitar smurf"... although now that I look at it, it's guitar only has four strings and it looks like he's playing with his fingers. I think the smurf people made a BASS SMURF! hehehheheh... I was surprised when I was in Finnyland that Smurfs still seemed rather popular, or at least they made their appearance on store shelves in the form of funky peach soda and gummy smurfs. Of course, as for 8-tracks, I'm glad they faded off into the realm of ancient technology...
When I started playing bass in 4th grade, one of the first songs I learned was the theme from the "Meow Mix" commercial (You know...Meow, meow, meow, meow, etc.,). I didn't have any childhood records but my my parents would play Henry Mancini and other big band stuff so I got a chance to listen to that. It was cool. There was one record with kid songs that my second grade teacher would play during class though. I loved that record...I never did find out who the artists were. Some of the lyrics to one of the songs were :"I am being eaten by a Boa Constrictor ":ll (repeats 3X) Then "and I don't like it very much. Oh no. oh no , he swallowed my toe, he swallowed my toe" and so on until the Boa Constrictor gets to the head. If anyone knows who the artist is..let me know. I'd like to find out.
