This feels like a reunion, and it sounds like some good stuff's been happening!

I really need a job, but am busy at university with a degree in music (classical singing) and visual arts (photography) and don't have the time or energy to do much else. But praise God, a local church has been paying me to sing in services every week, sometimes solo, sometimes in a choir. The money isn't huge, but it's a great help!!

Re: Spending time alone with God in nature. When I was 15 and depressed, I thought about killing myself, but considering nature - even just hills and trees I could see out my window - I knew there had to be a God, that killing myself might be wrong and that I needed to get to know this God. If nature can point an unbeliever to God, then spending time in nature is good for everyone!!

    Yes! a little Reunion!!!

Nature speaks about God´s hand in creation, but sadly mankind build "concrete nature" to quiet nature speaks, still there are places where we can fly away from mankind and get in touch with God! here in San José, Costa Rica in the area where I live is a valley and it is surrounded with magnificent green mountains with blue skies that get you a filling of being secure with them and I always remember Psal 121:1.

Your prayers request are been taking here in Costa Rica, and to move to a praising part:
this 16th Octuber our pastor is going to take again his position as Pastor on the church!!!! finally he is much better now, not at his 100% but let´s say he is at 70% and God has being faithfully with us (Prince of peace church), in many ways.
right now I don´t know if I will be in charge of something else or just as an Elder, anyway I work for God in any place he want´s me to be, His will is holy!!!

My prayer request: there are many but for this weekend i will be sharing with some Young kids (around 50) on a camp some of them are non christians, so God can reach them all and talk to them in any way He can!

Many Blessings to you all, and thanks for your prayers!!!!

Oh, I thought a metal church would be made of literal metal. You know, to handle the pyro.

Wouldn't an apatheist be uninterest in torching churches, by definition, though? Since the view is defined us "having no interest in the existence or non-existence of a God or gods." Just a thought.

Mmmmm not entirely, you see, if the god or gods do or do not exist is no matter to me. There's still the followers. If the followers of said god are in fact dangerous it would indeed be a smart thing to be prepared to defend myself. Now being the age in which I live I don't generally have to worry about it a ton, being a transgender does make it a bit of a concern, but generally I don't usually worry much about "believers". I certainly would though if this were 1500. lol "She's a witch I say"! lol

But would destroying their meeting place be of any constructive use? I'd think it would rather encourage more aggitation, rather than pacify/depress them. Really, you should just assassinate the Pope. If you want to kill something quickly, cut off the head.

But Christianity NOW is so fragmented it would only be shocking for that to happen I fear, however if not one, but many places, or all places of worship were gone and people were forced to worship without gathering, without the public viewing, etc etc etc. Eventually that sort of collective hate for things that a single society locked in the desert without understanding of other cultures hated 2000 years ago might.....might just fade a little, of course yes it would outrage people. Hell it enrages people one a single kid at a school doesn't want to pray etc. So I don't know if you can soothe them as a collective. (No offense intended, just a thought)

And I don't intend to offend your beliefs either. I just enjoy intelligent discussion.

So really, if I understand correctly, your issue isn't with God (or not god) - but rather with the people and instutions that (or claim to) represent Him?

Great question, and I enjoy these conversations too. The answer is it depends on the god, holy book, evolution of the religion, history of the religion, etc etc when it comes to how I see a "god". But even if I've a negative view, it's still everyone's right to accept or reject said god.

However followers are different, I must live among them, I must try to judge quickly how, why, etc they worship, their relationships with non-believers etc. This can end up in friendship, or a rather nasty exchange, etc. Of course even worse, but never in my experience. So yes a lot of how I deal with religion day to day has less to do with anything the religion teaches, and more to do with how it's followers affect me currently.

Unfortunately, most followers don't follow the religion they claim to be following. Or else heated conversations with Christians wouldn't happen. After all, Christ taught that we should defend our faith, but never be hateful toward anyone, even those who oppose us. And yet, so often people decide to rule themselves, rather than submitting themselves to their higher power of choice.

Well we can say theres no true scottsman, BUT that aside some see, those sorts of conversations, or even murder, or war as defense of the faith, now you and millions of other Christians may not, but some have, and some still do. I mean I've Christian friends, we even talk about religion just as we are no without anyone ever being offended, but you know just as I do that's not possible with all people, so people can't disagree without offense.

Ah, but "no true scottsman" is a well known logical fallacy. ;)

But yes, I do know what you mean. Sadly, the number of people available with whom to have intelligent conversation seems to be diminishing.
