I like a few bands in the genre, with Candlemass being my favorite by far and a few others or random songs catching my fancy every now and then. Mostly though...yea...just so boring. I need more energy.

Yeah I mistake them sometimes because they're the two worst places ever. But Saginaw isn't as far so its more expected.

This is accurate. I'm surrounded by Italians. That is all.

A lot of doom relies on layering for its complexity, and vocals for its energy. If your sense of excitement comes from drum work or shredding, then its just not the thing for you. But as was said Trouble can be pretty energetic, just one of many that are on the verge of trad.

My mom is from Detroit. It used to be a really nice city and suburban area.

    Yeah that's up for debate.

Whoa, this surprises me. I thought everyone on this board liked doom. I think it sucks. I do love the D&D mentality though. Too bad the music sucks.
Also these shit bands trying to bring back late 70's doom/rock. Stop!

If I'm super critical about it, I basically like about 5-6 Doom albums.

That's about how many I owned at one time, maybe 8-10. I just found everything I listened to boring except for Warning for whatever reason (probably because the degree of despondency is so high). Not enough action for me.

Wow, in 8 years it's amazing to see how a 1,000 pages have been added to this thread. So many good discussions on this forum, it's nice to drop back in once in a while and see what all the kids are fussin' about.

Controversial opinion? Oh. Deafheaven and the black-gaze stuff is the best thing to happen to BM since Burzum broke up.

    That's ridiculous.

MoSeN that last song sounded almost decent, but it sounded like cathedral trying to sound like God of Emptiness style Morbid Angel lol.

So they went two years into the future and stole that from Morbid Angel right?

the point was more that it sounds awkward and not like cathedral and doesn't really work.

Nah, that was their one flash of brilliance. It'd be like calling Hear Nothing... "not like Discharge" because of all their later crap.
