Saw this in an interview over at Blabbermouth with Dave Mustaine: http://www.roadrunnerrecords.com/blabbermouth.net/news.aspx?mode=Article&newsitemID=150794
Yeah I was interested to see that too. Very cool of Dave to give Dan's project his (what appears to be substantial) input. Will be an interesting spin, as long as it doesnt sound anything like that Monkeydeux material that surfaced a year or 2 ago. That was terrible. (It ISN'T that - is it?)
Might be something new, problem with Spitz is that (apart from the fact he is a basket case) he never finished any of his long awaited projects.
both his kids are autistic....? I didn't know that. That's tough. I always liked his style, very unique. This new prj may be worth paying attention to.
I wouldn't mind seeing Dan back in Anthrax. Doesn't look like he's into that very much, though. Don't get me wrong, I like Caggiano. But I also liked Spitz's solo work with Anthrax. Very melodic and his solos always seemed to serve the song and weren't just pointless fretboard masturbation. IMO, Danny should have deserved a lot more recognition among guitarists. BTW: First time hearing about his heart problems and his kids' handicap. Feel sorry for the guy, he seems like a genuinely likeable dude.
Dan Spitz has a good head on his shoulders and that shows in itself by him staying out of Anthrax for the time being. Though I'd love to see him back, it's hard to take the band too seriously as a stable project until they get that new release out and stuff. Overall, I'm very glad to hear he's still at it. He's a talented guy! Props to Mustaine for being a rad guy and helping him out.
Dave Mustaine is a Christian? Funny, I don't recall him ever mentioning it before..... Good to hear him giving Dan some publicity, Dan's a good guitar player, best Anthrax ever had. I wonder if Nicko McBrain does the drums on it, wasn't he working with Dan a few years ago?
Yeah Nicko was doing something with Dan..... don't think anything ever came of it though. Mustaine is a Christian from some years back. He outlines it in his recent autobiography if you want to read about it, although it was known way before his book came out.
You didn't know that? I had a feeling that he talks about it all the time. Hell, he refused to play at some festival because the band Rotting Christ was on the bill! I think Nicko McBrain later denied taking part in Spitz's project. I remember listening to the Off The Chain song with Vanilla Ice. Spitz also announced some work with Matt Thompson from King Diamond a few years ago, which could have been funny - a Christian guitarist and a drummer from the "satanic" band.
Correct. Mustaine's never done banging on about Jesus and having bands thrown off bills for not sharing his beliefs.
i met Danny in Glasgow and he was really cool, however some of the stuff attriibuted to him (Metal Sludge 20 questions and THAT interview) makes him look like a bit mental. It would have been great to see him on the Big 4 shows, but I'm happy with Rob moving forward.
There is a recent short feature with Danny and his wife on youtube, discussing a "Walk now for Autism" event next year. They both sound fine to me.
I think he's not so much talking about being christian as he is saying "I am christian" as in " I I I I I I I I ME ME ME ME ME ME" motherfucker makes everything about him...
I bet Dave will tell God to fuck off when he dies because Dave is a better christian and guitarplayer than him! Dave will replace God with hiself.
