Agreed. BTW I agree I'm not alone in darkness (and some people have it a lot worse) but I have had quite a few crazy things happen I would rather not discuss here. You're just gonna have to trust me on this one. DARKEST A STORY! and no, not one of those, "Life is so hard I'm a teenager" ones either. I've heard worse though. It is a little hard for me to talk about though. It all ended well though. Can we please end this here? So sorry. I always regret what I say at night in the morning. HAHA!

IMO the colors and different things encourage eachother. But I guess this is just like food. Different tastes. Art is a very unusual thing though. Things sometimes do not make sense or are symbolic. Always have that in mind. If you saw my art you would be like, "What is that supposed to mean?". Well... call it a truce? Sorry for my aggression. It was late at night and sometimes I get in those moods. No excuse though. Sorry.

I will concede that this is not one of my best pieces. And in the future I might come back to it and rework some stuff. As to the meaning, well it is really chock full of Christian symbolism (which all my work is). It also references more than the supplied verse (Ephesians 6:10-18). When I was creating it, the title popped in my head, and I ran with it.

As to fire being too flashy? Fire is metal! :headbang:

Prometheus, what I must say is, from these sort of images I expected it to be a little more dynamic, for instance... all of the characters you posted were upright in position. None were in a fashionable pose, nor were they expressing any emotions, for the last image I'd say it'd be sweeter if he was in a haste and the "camera" capturing him was in different angle, not just like this, it's monotonous in a sense.

Just my 2 cents, if anyone feels offended by my criticism feel free to say so.

And Ryan...love you too, pal :p

Like I mentioned before, I'm not offended. My wife has harsher critiques than anyone else. :erk:

Yes a lot of the poses are that way. Sometimes, that's just the way I work and think, other times, because of the stock I work with, it's all I have. I would to do work that has more action in it, but don't have the resources to make it happen.

Firstly make a sketch inside your head, then look for a stock that suits you. Even tho I'm inexperienced it makes more sense to work on the stock your way, than let it dominate you.

Every now and then I draw stuff from scratch on the computer with a touchscreen pocket pc (cuz it feels more natural and it lets me do what I want) LOL. It is hard though. Lots if detailed cautious movements. I mostly just do pencil sketches though. :headbang:

"The Eternal Torment of the Soul" - July can be one of the hottest months, and the image for this month is no exception! Once again notice the "subtle" use of fire in this image. On a serious note, hell will be a real reward for some in the afterlife. God does not send us to hell, but instead we take ourselves there. Through this piece I wanted to speak to the reality of the issue. Thank God for the sacrifice of his son Jesus that delivers us from hell, afterwards and currently.

He, too, will drink of the wine of God’s fury, which has been poured full strength into the cup of his wrath. He will be tormented with burning sulfur in the presence of the holy angels and of the Lamb. And the smoke of their torment rises for ever and ever. There is no rest day or night for those who worship the beast and his image, or for anyone who receives the mark of his name.”
    Revelation 14:10-11

I just drew a cool pic with a mechanical pencil. lol. I usually hate them... but it turned out. It is called "The Haunting" and it shows a Knight defending his fortress while demons are swooping down from the sky (there is like this crack in the moon also) and one demon is trying to kill him with a sword. He is taunting him while the knight is trying to defend. The demon has an evil grin on his face and looks ferocious. Not the most detailed picture I've ever done... BUT... it still is pretty cool (if I might say so myself).

Cool! My wife uses a mechanical pencil all te time. I only recently got into them. The only drawing I do for the most part is for logo ideas.
