I think Necrophagist is pretty good. But I don't find them to be terribly listenable for long sessions since things tend to blend into each other over time. I love tech metal of any kind though. I even enjoy Dillinger Escape Plan for the fact I respect the furiousness and technicality of their work. That is blasphemy to you "true" people I'm sure, but I don't care. I wouldn't mind knowing about some more tech bands really, so long as it's got at least some sense of rythme to accompany it.

Anata, Decapitated and Psycroptic are the ultratechnical bands I like the most. Anata for my pussy tech side, Decapitated for brootal, Psycroptic for grooves and riffs. I do count older Suffocation as tech death as well, "Pierced From Within" is rockin' as well as very influential.

Suffocation, Atheist - Piece Of Mind, some of Cynic - Focus, and a few off of Pestilence - Testimony Of The Ancients is as technical I can listen to...though those aren't too technical.

The whole Brutal Tech scene just does nothing for me. Brutal bands, Unique Leader etc...have such horrible bands imo...I don't think any of the bands on those labels have one memorable riff...Save for a few ok bands.

Yeah, I like Atheist and old Cynic (the new album is a little too weird). I can't wait for the new Anata album though. They're technical, but in a different way. Same as Decapitated. I think the biggest difference between them and regular tech death bands is that their music has a soul, it's not just riff puree.

What I like about Anata is that they, just like Psycroptic, employ some groove drive and thought to their music.

Anata has evolved SOOOOO much from their bigining too. I like it when a band gradualy matures but doesn't lose its originality.

Very true, and most bands have a lot of trouble keeping the original sound over time.

Anata is very good, and Necrophagist so. I'm not get into technical stuff very much, but nowadays I listen some technical DM. Cynic is very cool too ,but I think it's not death metal it's jsut Cynic :D Listen some live shows on youtube, they're pretty good.

Monstrosity is amazing for those who havent heard. They remind me of Vital Remains (probably why they're touring together) only with a little more groove aside from the solo's.
