1- Deathcore does exist and is often use to describe such band as Despised Icon, Job for a Cowboy, Animosity, etc. I don't really like it but it, whatever if it can make these bands happy.

2- Despised Icon had some grind elements on their first full lenght "Consumed by your poison" and I enjoy that album sometimes. I don't really like their newer stuff nor do I like to listen to them live. Blastbeat/breakdown on repeat for 30 minutes isn't my thing... same goes for Ion Dissonance.

That's basically what it usually comes down to. This seems to happen with a lot of other bands of this type.

If you enjoy them attempt to see them live. I was generally unimpressed by their studio work, but they were fun live when I saw them.

So what English bands are considered deathcore? Bands like Stomping Ground or Send More Paramedics?

Totally. Metalcore is quite a despised genre among metalheads, so the label "metalcore" bears a huge stigma, and any somewhat commercialized new metal band that sucks is branded with that label. Another good example of this is As I Lay Dying. I don't really hear any hardcore in their sound (they sound more like a clone of latter day in flames), but because they suck, they are tagged with the "metalcore" label.

I'd rather listen to actual grindcore. deathcore is gay. and girl pants belong on girls.

They have downtuned breakdowns and hardcorish vocals. The In Flames comparison is a good one though.

This is true. However, too many bands try to emulate the Gothenburg sound and fail, i.e. Darkest Hour and Killswitch Engage. Their music just doesn't have the same emotion in it that the quintessential Gothenburg bands did.

To me, the band All Shall Perish pretty much epitomizes deathcore - death metal aggression and heft with hardcore breakdowns.

I find this alot nowadays. A friend of mine wants to goto a Between the Buried and Me show, but it'll be full of hardcore emo kids with tight fitting pants and castrated nuts. Dead To Fall could be deathcore? I don't know, i own 2 of their albums and they are ok. And i don't think they even wear chick pants!

Yep. Black Dahlia Murder is probably the worst culprit (they sound just like SotS era ATG). Yet ironically, they are still one of the better metalcore bands out there (not that that's saying much).

Trivium is metalcore because they sound like mid-era Metallica crossed with some Iron Maiden flair in the melody and lead guitar departments, and they have hardcore exagerrated breakdowns.

And you're right, vocals do not play a part in determining genre at all. EVER.

Only that's fucking false so stop spreading your anti-metalcore B(ia)S. As I Lay Dying are metalcore because they utilize melo-death metal in the context of modern hardcore; that is, their palm muted, fast riffing crossed with trade-off vocals* and typical melody/breakdown combinations. These are sure signs of the "Swecore" style. Stop saying everything metalcore sucks and start opening your ears and your mind on the subject.

*vocals in this context refers to the rhythmic applications of the vocals (how they switch at intervals), not the "style."

I would say, yes, I accept Deathcore as a sub-genre. Most of a Slamming style of death metal with heavy vocals but not over-the-top pig vomited vocals. Bands like Beyond Fatal.

You speak the truth. I've heard their new album, they are pretty fucking brutal. The vocalist is insane and it's damn technical, i'm not a huge fan of the breakdowns though. They just ruin the intensity and uniqueness they have going into monotonous predictable mosh-riffs.

It's only a small fault I have with them and it's tolerable. So a recommendation on my part too.:kickass:
