I know this album is already a few months old at this point, but I didn't see much discussion about it and it's really been growing on me lately so I wanted to see everyone's opinions.

Personally, when I first heard it I was still preferring Devin's metal stuff to his not-so-metal stuff. I liked Ki and Ghost, but not as much as the others. But the more I listen to the new one (I have the 2CD version, plus the USB drive with more bonus tracks) the more I think I'd be perfectly happy if Devin quit metal and just made this type of music full time. It's weird, it can be a little long, and you have to be in the right mood to really get it, but it's a strong contender for album of the year from me right now. I'd preorder a sequel in a heartbeat.

That's just me though. What about y'all?

I like that Devin did precisely what he wanted to do. As for the music, I have no interest in it. It's not a style I would listen to if it wasn't Devin, so it's not something I care to hear when it is. I don't know what genre or subgenre this rightly fits in, but whichever one it fits in, I have zero interest in it.

Listening to it right now on Youtube. It seems like an extention of Ki, with a female vocalist. It's pretty chill. I like it, but I'll like just about everything Devin does.

I loved Ki and Ghost quite a lot.

I ordered CoC hoping it would be more of that and to an extent it kinda is. My only downfall with CoC is I found it to be a bit monotonous to listen through. A bit too much "samey" sounding, song wise. I've set it aside to revisit it again, but right now it sits in the "just ok" column for me.

Yeah, I think Devin is at his best when he's more interested in the project, and not doing something he feels he has to.

This was how it was for me the first two months I had it. I liked a few of the individual songs, but the ambient parts towards the end just made it a task to sit through. On a whim, I listened to the whole thing again recently and fell in love. I guess you really just have to be in the right mood for it to "click".

I don't see how COC is "samey" in the least. Every song is completely different from all the others and each has a unique place on the album. The song writing here is unparalleled. It was by far my album of the year in 2014.
