God I want to play so badly. Instead I'm stuck working on a research paper all night. :erk:

I do hope they learn all they need from this beta weekend so I can have lag and error free fun when the full game hits.

Logged in from the first attempt this morning and was just about to finish it when I got kicked out. Now I can't even log in because of the servers.

The game's great but I will never feel as new and exciting as Diablo 2 was just because we've seen most of the stuff already and we're not in our early teen years either. Crafting is pretty cool though, I'm hoping this and the auction house will bring some excitement into the mix.

It is indeed pretty easy but that's just the beginning, on normal, it will probably be a lot better on inferno difficulty.

What a strange concept of "open" beta. I've tried for four hours, both last night and this morning, and the furthest I've gotten so far is the character creation. Otherwise I'm constantly getting different errors due to the player cap.

It's more a chance for them to stress test the servers than for everyone to give it a play, unfortunately.

Just played my demon hunter for 2 hours with no lag at all! :)
It's a lot of fun, but too easy on normal. But you get the idea how the final game will be. I like the graphics but they somehow seem a bit "washy"...

Can't get in the game at the moment. Login is possible, but when I try to "resume game" I get Error 300008...

    Yawn.

Tell me something to make me interested in this game.

What is so great about it ?

I am an old D1 veteran who never finished the second game (got bored with D2, more interesting games appeared, etc etc, uninstalled)...

Any good videos that really show how the game looks and works on youtube ?

Got to play 10 mins in the morning. But now I get an error everytime I try to login... It's literally impossible to play ffs....

First impressions though, it felt less cartoony than I thought it was going to be from the early early videos. Loving the music, loving the same recurring theme. Overall gameplay seemed OK. How does loot work on this? Is it not a click fest like on Diablo 2? I actually liked that aspect lol, I guess it just divides for every member

Mutant, if you've decided you don't want to like it, no video can change your mind and if Diablo 2 wasn't interesting enough for you to finish it then any argument given in an attempt to get you interested in D3 would be in vain.

Jarkko, bored by level 4? So you played 5-10 minutes, with the most basic abilities and loot, on the easiest and most straightforward part of Act 1 on easiest difficulty and you already have verdict?

It's all about making a monster of a hero; finding and/or crafting epic loot, exploring different builds; trying the Auction house and so on...

I remember watching other people play Diablo 2 when it came out in 2000 and thinking "wow what a lame repetitive senseless game". Then I tried it with a couple of my friends and got more obsessed with it then with any other game ever, period. I still play it every now and then.

I was in the closed beta, but I played for a bit today. Seems a little different - the Elite monsters are new, and welcome. I pretty much reinstall Diablo 2 every couple of years and level/gear a char up. I'm hoping Diablo 3 will be the same, but it's so hard to tell from such a short demo.

I really don't get the new skill system. It seems streamlined to the point where there will be:

    A) No point in actually having it.
    B) No character individuality whatsoever.
    C) No balls required in committing to a build.
    D) No reason for me to bust out the calculator and scour the web for the most efficient DPS/survival builds.

Why do you think this? To me it seems far less cookiecutter than Diablo 2 was, where you pick one skill (usually each class has 2 or 3 legitimate choices) and max that and all its synergies.
The only point of yours I could understand is C, but even then, the 'balls' required in Diablo 2 were really an extra day of grinding up a new char, and personally I like the fact that it encourages you to explore your entire class, instead of being worried about fucking your build up.

edit: I assume you know about Elective Mode, where you can put any skills anywhere? However the UI is horrid.

Yes, although I did play more than ten minutes. Just like I can taste a plate of food without finishing it and still know that I don't like it, I didn't feel stoked about this game.

Diablo II originally caught my attention because the atmosphere and the game mechanics felt really interesting right from the beginning. With me, that's the case with all the games I've loved and enjoyed. Not this time.

    Officer, problem?

Guess you're missing the nice aftertaste then ;)
No problem for me. It just seems you're making assumptions based on very limited content. The demon hunter for example outright sucks during the first few levels but gets way better just after a few more levels. The quests and monsters are also said to be much better later on, after the straightforward introductory stages.

@Ermz I take it you haven't read about the Nephalem Valor Buff

Ok, so far this seems to be the worst diablo ever... I've spent one hour and a half playing with a friend and simple things like, you can't use melee? What's the point in looting all those weapons if you can't use anything? Also, how does the loot work? Cause if I remember correctly, on diablo 2 something comes out, everyone sees, it seems to be specific for each person now? That's just absolute craptastic...

And the new skills system, wtf? It fucking sucks balls, it looks like they've tried to make it "console friendly" but it's not even a console game lolol. It seems they expect gamers nowadays to be just dumber than before or something.

If I got anything wrong please pleaaaase correct me, cause I want to love this game and buy it and grind!

What do you mean exactly by "you can't use melee"?

Loot drops are separate for each player and it's better this way. Removes a lot of unwanted foul play, IMO. Plus, melee characters are otherwise at an advantage due to their proximity to loot drops.

As for the skill selection, read on:

About the loot, yeah, it makes sense. But that's usually why you don't play a co-op game with random people online, you know you're bound to get some fucktard that is just running around ruining the experience for everyone.

In terms of skills, what you pasted tells me exactly what I said and felt while playing the beta. They've dumbed down the game so any simpleton can just click and play without even thinking about anything whatsoever. Fair enough, but the thing is, what I was asking is not a 'brainiac' kind of thing, because, let's be honest, Diablo 1 and 2 are really easy to understand and I'm the kind of person that, when it comes to games like these, takes a little while to absorb everything, so I may stop a bit and try to understand this and that and whatnot. After a few minutes you grasp the integrity of the game and it's potential, so I guess what they are trying to achieve with this, is basically for a cat to start clicking a mouse and being able to enjoy the game without even remotely using a brain cell to understand what's going on or why you're being given random stupid skills and runes.

I had big hopes for this game, I won't even bother now unless there's quite a change on the final build

Nah man, I'll definitely give it another chance when it's out. I tried to get back into it today, but surprisingly couldn't because of the player cap :D

Yeah the loot system is a bummer imo - half the fun was anticipating a great drop and clamoring to pick it up b4 anyone else during the days pickup was getting stamped on. I'll admit I need to stop playing the beta because I'm getting bored to tears with it :( I def hope theres boss and sub-boss specific loot to make the runs worthwhile
