    But can anyone recommend some macabre and dark classical, progressive rock, or anything organic sounding???

    in progressive rock I'm looking for something more like Opeth's Deliverance and Akira Yamaoka's Silent Hill works...

    Hate to say it, but I don't know of any band I would compare to Opeth. Darker metal bands, like early Cradle of Filth which I felt had some progression. I would say check out Pain of Salvation, as they are a little darker as well, though not too extremely dark.
