I'm so glad spotify excists I've checked out a LOT of bands legally via spotify. If they would ad Venoms first 2 albums... EDIT: If they would any ANY Venom album except Prime Evil, Hell, Ressurection and Cast In Stone
Actually I think Down's first album 'NOLA'is probably much closer to stoner rock than the groove/sludge sound that they went with on II and III.
I've never really got into Down but I've always considered them to be somewhere between Southern rock/metal, and "groove" (which isn't a term I like). Though saying that, they do have their doomy moments... but they're definitely not straight doom, in any sense.
Down suck. The Wizar'd They're a Aussie doom band and quite popular despite the vocals. I got given their album on my birthday by a dude who runs a label and put this album out. Its quite enjoyable now and again.
Never listened to Down. See their logo here and there all the time. Gonna try em after Enter The Grave has ended
The Wizar'd are alright Dan, I think I remember you showing me them before. Anyways, here's a few assorted doom tracks...
Down III has some awesome songs on it, but a lot of it is pretty meh. NOLA is about 27 billion times better
Napalm Death have actually done some amazing doom/industrial tracks, like Omnipresent Knife In Your Back, Morale and Contemptuos
