How do you say metal, as in the music genre? I'm guessing it's probably Metal. If so, what is the gender? Also, do you just say power metal, black metal, death metal, etc, or would it be something like "schwarze Metal"?

Do you have an idiom for "rest in peace"?

    Vielen Dank.

Art is useless. So are categories and genres.

Normally you use metal or heavy metal without an article, so the gender is of no importance. like in 'Ich höre Heavy Metal'. If you really need a gender for it i would always consider heavy metal as male. like in 'Ich höre guten heavy metal' and not 'Ich höre gute heavy metal' or 'Ich höre gutes heavy metal'. For subgenres we use the normal english terms.

You can say 'Ruhe in Frieden' tho it is not as common as 'Rest in Peace' in english everybody will surely get the idea!

The French and Walloons are horrible at pronouncing band names. They'll all pronounce them in the French phonetic system. Idiots.

Nope. I try to avoid Manowar as much as humanely possible.

Why? - I think there is nothing wrong with them at least concerning the first three or four albums...anyway, it was a joke - that song has baaad lyrics and an even worse translation.

yeah [KOTNO]Narrot has explained everything very good :D

You can find "Ruhe in Frieden" everywhere on gravestones ... i guess nearly every third one has it on it`s top ... so i dunno think that it`s not common here where we speak german ... :| seriously i`ve never seen any gravestone with "rest in peace" here :|

well perhaps i just haven`t seen it :|

    :D

Don't know it? - horribly translated and also delivered with a funny accent.

    Ein Feuer brennt
    1000 Meilen weg,
Zeig mir den Weg zum Ziel.

    Ich reit' Kometen,
Mein Weg ist lang und schwer,
    Schweigen ist die schwerste Last.

    Kämpf gegen die Welt,
    Nimm alles, was es gibt,
    Manchmal verlier auch ich.

Geboren um gegen den Wind zu gehen,
    Geboren um zu verlieren,
Wohin ich geh', geh' ich allein.

    Schlag' die Schlacht,
    Leb wie Du willst.
    Ich kenn' keine Not

    Ich kenn' keine Not
    Und keine Angst vor'm Tod.
    Schlag' die Schlacht,
    Du hast die Wahl,
Ich hab' ein Herz aus Stahl.

But you are a French Canadian, so that's your only redeeming quality.
