I noticed there aren't any threads about listening equipment so why not start a one? I mean every kind of equipment, speakers, car audio, mp'3 players, headphones, and so on. Share opinions on your equipment for listening music.

I've been searching for a mp'3 player that focuses mainly on music, I didn't care about video quality or other bullshit useless gadgets like chat with friends or downloading daily weather broadcast like Creative did with it's Zen X-fi model. I didn't want to have an iPod because iPod definitly dominates the market in these kinds of equipment. That doesn't mean that every other company is shit. I found my one:

    Sansa Fuze 8 gb version.

Right off the bat you want to laugh at my player's capacity, but believe me, 120 gb versions of iPod cost here in Poland a shitload of money.

Anyway, I am satisfied, even if I have the player just one month already. I've heard couple of players and I can tell you that besides iPod probably Sansa is the 2 most best audio quality company out there. Even with it's regular headphones this player sounds nice. The capacity also fits for me since I don't add any movies to the player. About 1800 songs (considering their bitrate is 192kb) is enough for me.

If some of you can recommend me some good set of earphones which can be bought for a resonable price, I would be thankful. Thanks in advance.

So discuss about your equipment people if you want.

I have this for my computer, which is where I do most of my listening:

I used to move it around a lot, so it's gotten kind of crappy. I only use two of the satellites because others have died. There's also something wrong with the volume knob, because sometimes the music will get extraordinarily loud at the slightest volume adjustment. It's gonna need to get replaced at some point, but it's still usable.

For portable music, I've got this baby:

It's pretty sweet. Has more features than an iPod, and the upload software I actually don't mind using because it's not a clunky load of shit like iTunes. My biggest complaint is that the software fucks up the ID tags sometimes, which is a pain in the ass. There may be an update for it that I need to download though.

I just bought a 16 GB SD card for it a few days ago. Very much looking forward to loading that baby up.

I got these headphones in February, and they're pretty awesome:

And I picked these speakers up a few weeks back so I could listen to the Zen in the kitchen without headphones. They seem pretty good:

I don't know what my car speakers are. I just have the default factory-installed ones for my Ford Escort ZX2. They're pretty crappy, but that's okay because I'm usually more interested in loudness than richness of sound when I'm in the car. There's a certain volume level where they start to sound like complete shit, but I can still get it pretty loud with a relatively clear sound.

But yeah, I've been stocking up on listening gear lately. I've spent about $300 this year on that stuff. That's probably as far as I'm going to go for now, until I feel I've got enough bucks to get new speakers and/or an MP3 player console installed in my car.

My iPod died ages ago and I've been using this shitty 2gb thing I picked up for $20 so that I didn't have to spend a 4hr train journey home in silence. Been meaning to get a new mp3 player soon.

As for equipment, I have a 30 GB iPod video, but only use it for audiobooks.
I listen to music at my computer using iTunes on a MacBook Pro, with Sony Noise-Cancelling Headphones, these:

My roommate wouldn't appreciate it. We only use his speakers when we play Classical.

Look! An Interpol album cover on the second farthest to the left!

Anyways, I use a pair of Bose in-ear headphones. I need to get a set of speakers for my room.

Zeph, I know this is off topic but, what happened to your other roommate? The fat one.

I use the Astro headsets for gaming and listening to music at night. I have a Sony surround system in my room, but I don't use it for anything except music.

    I have a: Zune 120GB

    with a broken hold switch

    and this medium fi:

[IMG] My CD player is a bit newer than that one though the LCD panel is different colour.

    ohh and these sexy speakers:

I need some stands for the speakers and better speaker wire. But other than that it's reasonably good.

I have a US blaster sub and speaker set for the PC but I don't bother with it. Too many cables everywhere and my medium-fi is too close to the computer for me to bother.

Laptop speakers or Sony noise-cancelling headphones. Alternatively, for cassettes and vinyl I use a 25 year old stereo that sounds vintage as fuck (cuz it is).

    NO,

you need a pre amp and an amp AND speakers if you want to use a separate turntable.

Buying a very old all in one system will be cheap, and sound shite.
