I haven't listened to much Stoner metal but I feel like I could get into it. Also something faster and more melodic than typical stoner metal would probably be a good way to get me into the genre.
Dozer - Through the Eyes of Heathens (stoner rock/metal) Kyuss - Blues for the Red Sun (stoner rock/metal) Ocean Chief - The Oden Sessions and Tor (stoner doom) Ufomammut - Idolum (stoner doom)
Electric Wizard - Dopethrone While not strictly Stoner Metal... Electric Wizard play some superb stoner/doom metal.
Second Ufomammut! Also: The Melvins - Bullhead Yob - Elaborations of Carbon Kyuss - ...And the Circus Leaves Town (my favorite Kyuss album, personally) Black Cobra - Bestial Orange Goblin - Coup De Grace Scissorfight - Mantrapping for Sport and Profit Weedeater - Sixteen Tons And a couple awesome 70's throwbacks: Witchcraft - The Alchemist Graveyard - S/T
I second all Kyuss recs and throw Welcome to Sky Valley in there too. By the looks of it you just need to listen to back catalogs of previous listed bands. Maybe check out Stash by Bongzilla (name says it all I suppose)
I second this, great album. Also, kinda similar to that, check out Zoroaster - Voice of Saturn Stoner Witch by the Melvins is a must-have as well.
Isis is a good stoner metal band. Check out their latest album, Wavering Radiant. Also, here's a review of their last show http://bostonmusicspotlight.com/article.php?id=2273
Acrimony - Tumuli Shroomaroom Acrimony - Bong On - Live Long! Acid King - Busse Woods Acid King - III though they detest the term "stoner", Church of Misery is hazy and groovy as fuck with an unhealthy interest in serial killers.
Isis is post-metal. Though I don't follow all these little genre differences so maybe they're the same. I can barely tell the difference between death and grind sometimes. But Isis is one of my favorite bands of all time so yea check em out anyway.
