Well, trust me to make a thread about this! Haha! As I know that quite a few forumers such as Metal Evilution Dave and Watto will be heading over to our Mecca this year, I thought I'd see if anyone else was heading over, what festivals they'll be attending, general Q&A and all that kinda stuff. As a spur of the moment kinda thing, I went and booked flights the other day to head over for a month, from the 26th of May to the 28th of June. Heading to 3 festivals at this stage. Here's the details on each of those so far: ROCK HARD FESTIVAL Gelsenkirchen, Germany May 29-31 Bands announced so far: ANGEL WITCH AUDREY HORNE BULLET CHILDREN OF BODOM DESTRÖYER 666 DRAGONFORCE EVOCATION FIREWIND FORBIDDEN GRAND MAGUS HAIL OF BULLETS HEATHEN JAG PANZER JON OLIVA'S PAIN OPETH SACRED REICH UFO SWEDEN ROCK FESTIVAL Sölvesborg, Sweden June 3-6 Bands announced so far: AMBERIAN DAWN (FIN) AMON AMARTH (S) AXIDENT AVENUE (N) BLACK TOOTH (TUR) BLACKFOOT (USA) BLAZE BAYLEY (UK) BULLET (S) CHAINS (S) DEMON (UK) DREAM THEATER (USA) ENFORCER (S) ERIC SARDINAS (USA) EUROPE (S) FLOGGING MOLLY (IRL/USA) FORBIDDEN (USA) FOREIGNER (USA) GRAND MAGUS (S) H.E.A.T (S) HAMMERFALL (S) HEAVEN AND HELL (UK) HELSTAR (USA) HYSTERICA (S) IMMORTAL (N) IMPELLITTERI (USA) IN FLAMES (S) JOHNNY WINTER BAND (USA) JON OLIVA'S PAIN (USA) KAMELOT (USA/N) LITA FORD (USA) LUJURIA (ESP) MARILLION (UK) MOTÖRHEAD (UK) PAIN (S) POWDERHOG (DK) RIOT (USA) SEVENTH WONDER (S) SOILWORK (S) STORMZONE (UK) THE CHAIR (S/USA) THE OUTLAWS (USA) THE TUBES (USA) THOR (CAN) TORCH (S) TRACENINE (CAN) TWISTED SISTER (USA) URIAH HEEP (UK) VOIVOD (CAN) VOLBEAT (DK) ZZ TOP (USA) HELLFEST Clisson, France June 19-21 Bands announced so far: ABORTED ADAGIO AMEBIX AUGUST BURN RED BETRAYED BLOCKHEADS BLOODCLOT BRING ME THE HORIZON COALESCE DAGOBA DEICIDE DESPISED ICON EYEHATEGOD GIRLSCHOOL GOJIRA JARBOE KATAKLYSM KEEP OF KALESSIN KICKBACK KINGDOM OF SORROW MOONSORROW NACHTMYSTIUM ORAKLE PENTAGRAM PESTILENCE SLAPSHOT SOILENT GREEN TAAKE TERROR THE BLACK DAHLIA MURDER UFOMAMMUT VISION OF DISORDER VOLBEAT W.A.S.P. If anyone can suggest things to see and do and places to visit in the forementioned places, it'd be greatly appreciated. Would love for Dave and Watto to post up their itineries too!
I'm going in September for a month. Just visiting family and watching some World Cup qualifiers. Hoping Adagio, Symphony X or Circus Maximus will be around my way if not I will go catch them next year.
I'll be in Europe from 20th June til 18th July. First time. I've got much better things to do than watch bands though. Hitting over a dozen countries. I'll be spending my birthday eve in Paris, and Birthday in the Swiss Alps too.
Not a fan of Prague Pete? Why's that? Not much to see or just downright not worth it? And Pyro, first time I went to Europe, I didn't see many bands, more sights and such. You're going to love it!
I'd love to go this year, but unfortunately I'm not going to have enough saved up so I'll be heading over for Metal Camp, Tuska Open Air and Wacken next year instead.
^ I concur with beardy, Pyro. Crap sights, boring people, sanitised pubs and so many fucking fat disgusting old tourists I literally couldn't walk down some streets (no kidding at all). Crap bridge, crap "castle", crap selection of Czech beers (like coming to Australia and finding only VB and Fosters). Ugly, fat, pissed Irish/British/American bucks parties on every corner. The kind of place where you can talk to 100 people on the street and not find any locals. Apparently Cesky Krumlov is by far the better idea if you're going to CZ.
I couldn't be bothered to post the lineup of the festivals but i'm definantly going to/already have tickets for Sweden rock, Hellfest, Wacken & metal camp. I'll probably do the first day of Graspop and I might go to Brutal assault. I'll be over in Europe for at least 3 months and i'll be going to as many places as I can and i'm going to climb lots of epic shit. Ive heard the Swiss alps have a couple of challenging mountains These next 3 months of waiting to go over are going to be torture
Final bands for Hellfest were announced during the night. I still can't believe how good they've made the line up. Extremely diverse and there's really something for everyone on there. Check this out:
great line of bands, yeah agree very diverse... mm France huh did'nt realise it was hell there, well good luck cuase the the French are @u#s
Magic Circle Festival has just been announced now too - July 18, naturally with Manowar headlining. I'm told the lineup for that is gonna be pretty cool this year.

Of course I will be dude! I'm a huge fan of Assasins: Black Meddle Pt.1 album and can't wait to see some of it live!
