Post your lists here if you got ‘em. Mine will be posted within the next few days and nobody will care.
nasheim, funeral mist, maybe ultra silvam? Marduk? I forget what year shit comes so damn fast as the months zoom by
Put Summoning, Kveldssanger, Dead Can Dance, Nest, and some other neo-folk into a blender. The result is this. My AOTY by a long shot.... The first track deceives everyone because it sounds like another Ulverfolk ripoff, but then it just totally becomes something which is wholly unique and magical. I won't make an actual list, but the best of 2019: #1 = Wolcensmen - Fire In the White Stone Runner-up for #1 = Obsequiae - The Palms of Sorrowed Kings Nasheim - Jord och Aska In Human Form - III Mistyrming - Algleymi Vimur - Triumphant Master of Fates Crypt Sermon - The Ruins of Fading Light Vukari - Aevum Tool - Fear Innoculum Vehemence - Par le Sang Verse Saor - Forgotten Paths Agalloch - Pale Folklore Agalloch - The Mantle Haunter - Sacramental Death Qualia (listen to this album if you haven't heard of it. Imagine My Arms/Your Hearse mixed with filthy death/black metal) and ABSOLUTELY NOT "Old Star" by Darkthrone, because why are you doing this? please stop releasing albums
I don't fall for namesdropping no more but this being Marksveldt of New England I shall listen and report
I legitimately LOVE this album. I would be surprised if you didn't at least LIKE it (same for Erik as well...)

Obsequiae and Borknagar were tops. Nile had a good come back. Alcest was pretty good. Rotting Christ had a good one.
Gaahls Wyrd and Nasheim and yeah Pale Folklore for sure. That's my Top 3 which I'll probably add to in 5 years or so.
1. Laster - Het wassen oog [still damn awesome] 2. The Chemical Mind – Beneath the Shadow it Casts [get a lot of maudlin vibes from here--although more blackgazish than doom,] 3. Laeitita in Holocaust - Fauci Tra Fauci[this band rocks, and dat bass] 4. Kayo Dot: Blashpemy 5. Nashiem - Jord och aska [greatt, with some katatonia bits?! 6. White Ward – Love Exchange Failure 7. Blut Aus Nord - Hallucinogen 8. Obsequiae - The Palms of Sorrowed Kings 9. Kaatayra - No ruidar da mata que mirra [such variety of riffs here, epic etc. etc. --- and the guy came out with another album later in the year--the embedded track rocks along than ends in epic fashion) 10. Mefetis – Emberdawn [black/death done very right] 11. Cara Neir – Part III/IV 12. Yellow Eyes – Rare Field Ceiling 13. Funeral Presence - Achatius 14. Ceremony of Silence - Outis 15. Mo’ynog - Dreaming in a Dead Language 16. Vaura - Sables -. That Wolcensmen album would be better served as a Ulver rip off. Best track was the opener, eveything beyond was a tepid lull. Maybe needs the proper setting.
