Saxon's "Sacrifice". Feels good to hear Sneap doing his thing with this kind of music.
Still my best guitar sound from mr. Sneap.
Wolf Hoffmann. He has the best guitar tone in metal.
This Godless Endeavor
^Some thoughts...TGE and Doomsday Machine both came out on the same day, both were Andy, both used recto and Krank, and both are my favorite guitar tones of all time. Of course most of the sound is in the hands of Jeff and Michael (who happen to be together now in Arch Enemy). But the Krank/Recto combination is crucial as well, and just gets me wet fucken all over just thinking about the sound.
If my memory serves me well that was july 2005 when they came out. This forum was a much different place then.
Exhibit B, and an honorable mention to Blood of the Nations. From the moment I heard Exhibit B, it became my favorite guitar tone ever, and basically has been the reason I own the gear that I do today, and play the way I do.
The Gathering or DHIADW
I love what he did with the latest Amon Amarth. It doesn't sound overprcocessed but nevertheless rich, fat and transparent.
Doomsday was peavey and krank AFAIK
This thread illustrates the point that there is no such thing as perfect tone, and that "good" tone is subjective.
You may be right, my memory has started taking a shit in my old age...at any rate we agree it was Krank...
I agree with the latest Amon Amarth
Must say The Formation of Damnation and Khaos Legions have been growing on me big-time lately!
