I feel bad for the two guys in the audience that were killed too. They went to listen and jam to some metal and ended up killed.

    That's not fucking right.

an amusing story about Dimebag from former Stuck Mojo guitarist Rich Ward.
"I feel that we should all be hesitant to make any assumptions or to repeat Internet rumors, at least until they are substantiated. Even then, what would our motivation be to talk about his death? All the details will unfold in the coming days. I think our focus would be better served by celebrating Dime's life and how he and his music touched us all.

When we were on tour with Pantera, Dime was obsessed with repeating a phrase from the movie Pulp Fiction; 'Tell that bitch to chill.' . He had us all in stitches, as every few minutes you'd hear his voice echo through the arena, 'I said......TELL THAT BITCH TO CHILL.'

At the time of our tour, Pantera's head of security was a guy appropriately named Big Val. After a few 'black tooths,' Bonz got a hair up his ass and said that he'd put phat cash on Corey (Mojo bassist) to beat Big Val in an arm wrestling contest. Well, it didn't take Dime and Vinnie two seconds to pull two huge rolls of cash out of their pockets. The room went nuts seeing Bonz' jaw drop as he realized his mouth was writing checks that his ass couldn't cash.

The best story though was when we first met up with Pantera at the Dynamo festival, which was the day before our tour started. We (Mojo) had a meeting, where we discussed playing it cool and not being too quick to be all up their (Pantera's) ass.

Let's face it, all of us in Mojo worshipped Pantera and we wanted to earn their respect as well as being mindful of how annoying it was when the opening band hung out all day in your dressing room. But as all plans on tour are destined to fail, Bonz got drunk, forgot 'our agreement' and wandered out on stage with a shot of Crown Royal for Dime. This being the touring band's sign of friendship and respect, Dime smiled and leaned his head back. Then Bonz poured the shot in Dime's eye! He made the most awful face and staggered over blindly towards his tech, who tried to clean his eye with a wet towel. Mind you, he didn't stop playing and this was in front of a crowd of over fifty thousand people. He regained his sight after about two songs and later walked over to where I was standing, which was next to his tech. He looked at me, laughed and said, 'Goddamn man, if that shit stings your eye that bad, I wonder what it's doing to my stomach.'

This is particularly chilling because just tonight I was reading the Metal Hammer interview with Anselmo...saying "Dimebag deserves a beating" and so on...

    A true tragedy.

I'm trying to avoid giving DBD the Cobain treatment, but that story is really touching. Damn.

I didn't catch up posting in the shooting at damageplan show thread, but my condolences goes to the Abbott family and his friends. Dimebag will be surely missed, and i think his music has a great impact to me as well. Cowboys from Hell is a great album and Cemetery Gates is one of my favorite songs. Rest in Peace man...

Currently blasting Far Beyond Driven. Dimebag was an awesome guy. Had the privilege of meeting him and talking to him for a few minutes with my friend. Great guy. Real down to earth. I hope those comments Phil made haunt him. Watch him kiss his @ss now.

Morbid Corpse...never seen someone with CD in their sig and not Death. But that's cool.

I dont know what to say, dimebag was awsome. like that guy said I'd to treat this like when cobian killed himself but Im pissed and sad at the same time. pantera is one of my favorite bands, I grew up listening to them and Im sure alot of you have to and on top of that others were killed and wounded, how fucked is that, well the mother fucker that did it got killed by the cops. its the end end of a great era of metal but I guess in a weird way he'll live forever through the great music he created

    :headbang: R.I.P. dimebag darrell :headbang:

Will everyone please stop saying anything resembling this?

Cobain was a whining junkie, who shot himself a decade ago.

Dimebag was Dimebag, and he got murdered two days ago.

THIS IS NOT THE SAME THING.

I'm talking about the one-sided immortalization. DBD was much better than Cobain, but I'm seeing the same types of comments and feelings brought up by Cobain's death.

DBD should be given his own memorial, and not have it over-dramatized. Kind of like with Quorthon or Valfar, except with deper sympathies due to it being a senseless murder instead of a death at the hands of nature.

That's exactly what I'm talking about, it all should be pretty one-sided, since Dime's death was not like most others, it was a totally unexpected tragedy (I don't use that word, BTW). Who's the last major musician to actually be murdered? Lennon?
