Could SATRIANI, VAI, ROMEO ever happen on a G3?
Though I don't reckon Romeo has enough instrumental solo guitar stuff for that sort of concert...
It would be truly awesome thats for sure
It would, though I'd prefer it with Vai, Petrucci and Romeo... After those guys, Satriani's stuff is a little boring imho... He writes great melodies, but I just find it a little too mainstream for my tastes...
Actually i'd agree with that but i think those 2 have to be in it, another guitarist i would love to see is Marcel Coenen of SUNCAGED, LEMUR VOICE fame
I've heard a lot of good things about him, but I haven't actually heard him play... Maybe i should...
Hes totally awesome, plays with feeling too
Yeah satch has to go, sure its his brain child, but theres only so many times you can see him live before he loses the aura. Romeo would be cool - he has a pretty unique sound and style - thats what you need for a good G3, especially in the jams.
When they came down here (satch, Vai, Petrucci) I feel the concert lacked variety. Vai stole the show big time because he was far more creative than the other two.
Any 3 out of: Steve Vai, Paul Gilbert, Mattias Eklundh, Romeo, Eric Johnson would be cool
If Romeo ever played G3, I'd wanna hear him play all of The Dark Chapter.
I can't stand Vai, so a Romeo/Petrucci/Satch G3 lineup would be incredible to me!
How can you not stand VAI
Vai is definatly my fav guitarist period! He's great on the recordings, even better live, and his band is second to none!
I'd rather just see Vai,
This year I think it became clear that Paul Gilbert is in a league of his own over Satch and Petrucci. I like Petrucci but I hate his solo material for G3, it sounds very slapped together to me. Plus for a guy who really has a lot of good taste and feel, he relies way too much on fast scale runs for G3 solos. Satch is just plain not so good. I think it's time we got some new blood in there, and if MJR releases a new CD of solo material that he has briefly mentioned in a few chats wanting to work up one of these days, I think he would have PLENTY of material and be a fantastic addition. Plus, hearing Mike in a blues jam - that alone would be interesting enough for the ticket price. He never plays the blues, I'd be so curious to see what he would do - I bet he'd slay. PG needs to become a mainstay. I didn't get nearly enough Racer X this time around.
Sounds great but can't see it happening. I think they should change the whole g3 thing around, it needs spicing up
it's fun to hypthesize and all, but realistically speaking Romeo (or coenen, or Eklundh, or anyone else who was mentioned so far other than previous G3 members) wont be on G3 any time soon. They simply don't have large enough of a fan base. It's hard enough to keep G3 as successful of a thing as it is. It would be cool to see those guys on a tour like that, but financially it probably wouldn't be very good for anyone. Satriani has mentioned this several times in several interviews.
I'd like to see: T-Mac - Gilbert - Romeo
That i would go see
Jarzombek/Eklundh/Vai (imagine the quirky jams that would involve)
T-Mac/Greg Howe/Brett Garsed (fusion mania...)
