Just started playing Call of Cthulhu on PC. It's really disappointing so far. It tries too hard to be scary and ends up looking like a Silent Hill clone or something. It's too cookie-cutter and streamlined. The monsters are way too refined and are not scary. The focus on violence is lame - Lovecraft isn't about blood and gore. The previous games in the series (Shadow of the Comet, Prisoner of Ice) were good, this one kind of sucks.
Finished Call of Duty 4 on hardened the other day. Pretty cool game. the online play is pretty fun too. I enjoy it a lot but I think it may be a tad overrated.
It is very over rated. Particularly the online play, which despite being called "deep" is about as "deep" as a kiddies play pool. There are far better shooters for the 360. I recently bought (for £10) The Darkness for the 360, which I have to say I thoroughly enjoyed, despite thinking it would probably suck ass. Went back to Oblivion and Forza 2 as well. I was thinking of getting GTA IV, though it did occur to me that I enjoyed Saints Row much more than the last GTA game, so I might just not fucking bother and get Saints Row 2 instead, especially as that will have online co-op play rather than another load of online deathmatch. Oddly, I far prefer co-op games to online deathmatch.
Usually multiplayer brings me back. I didn't even try it in The Darkness though. I sort of just wanted to beat the game so I could stop playing it. Anyway, I'm looking forward to GTA IV
Yeah. It was COD2 without the Nazis. Fun (although on the hardest difficulty occasionally punishingly difficult, as in tears of pain), but ultimately empty. Good for what it is. I'm not. I feel like that's the most overrated series ever, personally.
GTA since VC has just bore me. I'm a bit pissed because I can't seem to get Grim Fandango to play on my PC anymore. It freezes all the time whenever I try to play the damn game. Its a shame too...considering its one of the best experiences I've ever had playing a video game. Anyone else a fan?
I've heard it's really amazing... I had a lot of trouble getting Zork to run on my PC. Worth it, though.
Civilization is the most subtly addicting game ever. I sat down to play a quick match. 16 hours later I realized it wasn't the afternoon anymore.
GTA III is the only one I really enjoyed. Reason why I bought a PS2 wayyyy back when. And Civilization is great...I can't believe I just started getting into the series about 2 months ago. Best City Building game I played, but Simcity 3000 is close.
I bought a ps2 exclusively for 007: Nightfire. Heh. Best fps evar. Although Portal, CoD4, and tf2 are close behind. And I rate Crysis very highly too because it is smextasticly good looking.
I used to really like GTA. 1 and 2 were great, and I also really liked 3 at the time, but then I stopped playing it (got boring or whatever) and I really didn't like VC and SA. I really doubt I'm gonna bother playing 4. Empire: Total War should be coming out soon. I haven't played Medieval II yet, but I played Rome and that fucking ruled, one of my favorite games ever, and definately my favorite strategy game. I hope Empire will be up to its standards.
Call of Duty 1 was the best. Didn't get on with the second, which is suprising as I enjoy playing the 4th. That said, I only play on unranked servers that don't allow perks or grenades when I'm not playing a match. Loads of crap CoD4 frag videos out there but this one is pretty decent. Music sucks but the kills are awesome. Taken from a mixture of high skill matches (Not random servers!). 4.59 - 5.15 is uber.
Saw a vid of Halo 3 where a guy gets killed by a Warthog from the sky. He was up on a platform, in the big ass spinning wheel map, and the Warthog got stuck on a spoke and went up, fell off, and fell right on his head.
Can someone recommend me a good third-person shooter game for my PC. My comp is probably a little outdated by now, so not something made for Vista or with too high of requirements. I'm looking for something 'darker' with a great story and mood much like the first Max Payne was - that is still my favourite game. Manhunt has some good moments, Mafia was great but I don't play video games enough to know what's out there. Also, is there any good Vampire or horror-themed third person video games for PC that are worthwhile?
