That is why I don't post much here anymore. I come back to snicker at some of the things people say. If people wouldn't post such ridiculous comments, this thread would have half the pages it already has.

Ugh. Is this a serious reply? I guess I should have been more specific--SINGLE PLAYER GAMES. Of course you're going to get more hours out of multiplayer games, but I thought that was a given.

Way to douchebag your way out I guess, since it was obviously my bad for not thinking you would actually be this dense.

Man, can't you people have a normal discussion without resorting to kindergarten behaviour? Damn.

so if people stopped downloading games tomorrow, prices for new games would drop below 60 bucks? right.

When did I say that? It's a so-called clicker-system: the prices go up as a reaction to a negative trend, but do not go down when the negative trend goes away. I'm fully aware of this, and I said the increase of piracy pushes prices up (mostly because gaming companies have a convenient excuse because of it). I never said the reverse was true. If you're going to draw steel against a straw man, at least make it convincing.

    Don't say "toon"... :(

Yes, we all know by now you hate MMOs and are superior since you play only single player RPGs. I'm getting really sick of gaming nerds making fun of other gaming nerds simply because they aren't purists. It's a video game. Get over yourself.

It's got nothing to do with that. "Toon" is just a stupid term.

Also, it's not like you to cry and throw tantrums, so knock it off.

Ok that was mean and not necessarily directed at you, Stormo. It's just a pet peeve of mine.

    Semantics...but I'll bite.

Explain to me why it's so important to you that "toon" is such a stupid term and also why there should be a proper term for a video game character. Is it really that big of a deal? It's not like people are mispronouncing a word or spelling; it's video game slang. Do we really need the RPG police? Can you at least see where I'm coming from and see how your statement at least KINDA fits into that?

THIS is my pet peeve, when people go all empiric and purist in something as trivial as a video game.

"Toon" is not video game slang. It's a term coined by people who only play a single type of games, the (admittedly much-maligned by myself) Mummorpuger. It may appear a bit elitist of me to resent the term, but it's simply too much of a reference to cartoons, to which video games (especially mummorpugers) are getting far too much resemblance, exactly because of the mass influx of people who consider video games interactive cartoons. The existence of the term "toon", to me, is a painful symptom of the diminishing depth and, yes, intelligence of the hobby and its practicioners.

I get where you're coming from, and it may be a petty little thing of me to remark on, but kicking your feet and going purple is a reaction that is simply ludicrously out of proportion.

I never liked the term "toon", but ended up using it anyway back when I played Everquest. It's just how it is, man, it's not going to change.

You did say it was a factor. Just go back and read your post. Then you conceded my point, which I didn't even express since it's so obvious, that economically it isn't really a factor, since companies only use dl'ing as an 'excuse' to keep a certain price point. Games have always been expensive. Gaming is so popular that companies could raise prices in the face of decreasing downloads and more than enough people would still pay for them. So downloading might give companies an excuse, but it has little to do with why they price games high. Back when I was 10 years old Super Nintendo games were 60 dollars. New games have always hovered between 50-60 ever since the early 90's when no one was pirating.

Please cite this for me. I don't remember those games being highly priced but I could be wrong.
