A foreign policy discussion, hmmm? Time for me to get back into the fray here. Again, I appreciate the level of maturity and intelligence you people seem to show (as opposed to other boards such as the one Crusader and jmillion mentioned above). A bit of healthy venting, but none of that mindless "kick Saddam's ass" or "bomb all the A-rabs" nonsense I've been hearing from other idiots in this country. Being a person of mixed national origin, or "mutt" to be politically incorrect (my dad's side of the family hails from India, while my mom's is of mostly English and Scotish descent), I don't condone racism or othe forms of bigotry. In fact, I don't think that sort of thing is in any of our best interests, as our views and musical tastes kind of make us outsideres already. We don't need to give society a more legitimate reason to reject us.
Having said that, however, I can understand the frustration that our friend Twisted Tony has expressed regarding people form Arabic countries. My dad grew up in India when the country was being split into India and Pakistan, and he has never had kind things to say about Pakistan (which is an Islamic country... India is not), particularly regarding their treatment of women. His attitude was enforced by an extended visit to Saudi Arabia in the 1970's. He told me several times of an incident when he was travelling with an American woman who worked for the same company he did. While getting ready to ride off to a meeting, the woman got into the back seat of a taxi cab. Not thinking anything of it, my dad followed her into the back, only to be told that he better get in the front seat. When he asked why, he was told that if they were seen together in public, they would probably be arrested. Just for sitting together!
The problem in this incident (and the problem with the Middle East as a whole) is the same problem we have in the ol' Bible Belt: fanatical religious fundamentalism. An it is not the religions themselves that are the problem (every religion I have encountered, including Islam, is basically peaceloving, and does not condone massive, bloody wars), but a bunch of self-righteuos, self-serving nutjobs twisting the "gospel" of their religion to fit their agenda.
So, I think we westerners should let all the sick, brutal craziness that goes on in the Middle East be a cautionary lesson to us all: This is what happens when you let religious right-wing extremists take over your country!

o_O Whoa!!! Looks like you're not the only one going off on a tangent, Tony! I just remembered: the topic here is supposed to be Bush, so here's a lovely little update on Dubyah for your ralphing pleasure. The Bush regime... oops, I mean administration.... :yuk: is working on a contraversial plan to "rebuild" Iraq, after the war is over. Bush is apparently giving preferencial bidding previleges on the project to certain companies (surprise, surprise! :ill: ), excluding non-American companies from the bidding process. And wait..... here's the best part....Are you ready? Guess who is one of the first organizations to be let in on this sweet deal? Habitat for Humanity? Nope. Amnesty International? Not on your life, hippie! Nope, it's the wonderful, caring folks at................................. :OMG:

Halliburton!!!! Yes, that's right, the very same one! That scandalous, filthy-rich, Bush-supporting oil company once headed by (gasp!).... Dick Cheney!
And you thought we were going to war for the benefit of the oil industry!

Oops, I keep forgetting to mention this, but a quick question for Crusader: What is up with that ring Dubyah is wearing in that first picture you posted (the one where you said "I knew it!)?

It's the ring from The Lord of the Rings, you know the ring who makes you evil...

Wow! I never knew that! I don't know too much about that Lord of the Rings stuff, but good call, Crusader! By the way, I heard a statement on a local radio station today claiming that Bush prays to Jesus six times a day (maybe more, I don't remember)! I guess if he's wearing that ring, we should be glad he is praying, because it may be the only thing preventing him from doing worse!

Absolutely, thrasher1! I assume by your statement that you're not a hippie; am I correct? (I may be a pacifist, and I may lean a bit to the left (just like David Duke leans a "a bit" to the right, he he he), but I'm no hippie. But hey, this is an open forum, so if you have any different views, feel free to voice those here too (to my right-wing friends: a forum is just that, open. It's a place where people can express their views without fear of being blacklisted, unlike, say...Faux News). Anyway, like I said, feel free to fire back at any of us.

Please don't tell us your views, this is the most boring thread we have ever had! Write to CNN or something!

Well thanks secret_weapon. Nice to know the debate can stay civilized. Think I'll confine political debate to boring my co-workers to death. My comment was just a little poke at how out-of-place the whole warm and fuzzy, sandal wearing, liberal esthetic seemed on a Saxon board. Not sure why. Maybe it's that eagle :)

Thrasher - I think perhaps you had bought into the stereotypical views on how a "rock music fan" should feel/behave! We are all really nice people on here, who love music and a good laugh along the way - not loud, foul mouthed dim-shit yobs (as perhaps you were expecting?), but definitely not sandal wearing hippy types either!! Just ordinary people...well, ok, so I'm not "ordinary"...but everyone else seems quite sane!! :D

:hotjump:I'm trying to post a reply, but this stupid computer isn't letting it go through for some reason! I've lost it twice already! Anyway, Paxoman, if you're sick of this discussion, and want a fresh (and vulgar) take on the Bush/ Hussein rivalry, check out a little George Carlin routine called "Rockets And Penises In The Persian Gulf." You'll never see the issue quite the same again!
"Don't call me daughter..." Ugh! I hate that song! Now I can't get it out of my head! I need my copy of "Denim and Leather," quick! Thrasher, this is all your fault!

Thanks SW but I've had enough full stop of Bush/Hussein! George Bush's crack down on terrorism is obviously having a great effect, what with the bombings in Saudi Arabia!

Considering the discussion that's gone on here, it seems that we all have a little more common sense than the idiots who started this war. Fuck Bush, fuck Osama, fuck Saddam, fuck Ashcroft, fuck 'em all! (Hey, sounds like a good metal album title!) Things would be much better if these assholes would just go off and settle their ddifferences by killing each other, instead of having their soldiers do it. What a stupid mess! If everyone would just play Saxon, there would be no war!:hotjump::loco:o_O:Spin::hotjump:

That's it for me on all this war crap for now. Meet me in another section of the message board and we can discuss less weighty matters.
