Okay, so here's the next round of stuff. Same voting structure, except I need to add some stuff:

    1) Please try to keep formatting consistent because it makes it easier for me to tally votes

Please number stuff like how I numbered the first point above. Do not use periods or anything like that

When putting your choices in a list, do the following:

    Band - Album

Do not use other markers (like a long hyphen or a back slash or things like that). If an album has periods in it (like R.I.P. for Coroner), take them out (so it will read RIP)

    Do not use ampersands (&)

Please also make sure the album title is complete and correct. I had someone choose:

    Exodus - Bonded in Blood

which isn't an album they did

    2) Keep flaming to a minimum

    3) You are allowed to change the order twice. This is because every time you change it, I have to redo the spreadsheet. Make a decision and live with it! (I'm looking at you, TechBarb)

    THIS NEXT ONE IS IMPORTANT

    4) Please rate all 20 albums. If you don't, I'm not counting your submission.

Feel free to rate them if you only want to do 15 as it will add to discussion, but it's going to skew the averages if you only do 10 out of 20. I did it for the death metal series because it was a dry run and I wanted to see what worked and what didn't and not having a full list can be material to the outcome.

    Here are the top 20:

Tiebreaker was the number of votes an album received

Here are the losers. There are probably duplicates and it's not my fault if there are:

Voting closes a week from today unless the thread kinda dies then I'll call it sooner.

So list those 20 in our own order or take ten from those 20?

Nevermind. I didn't even read the thread title

Crap? That's a pretty solid top 20 by all accounts

    This. :D

Well I get why these albums are there but it's boring options to go with...

How about we are only allowed to vote on one album from each band (even when I had multiple albums from same band, hypocrite much?) in upcoming genres to get more variation?

EDIT: I didn't read this carefully the first time. I apologize.

It's really up for people to decide. I put a 'two album' rule on the death metal one and so many people complained that I changed it for the thrash metal thread. I'm afraid I'll have a riot if I do it for the black metal one, but at least there won't be 6 Burzum albums in the top 10 if I do that.

You can rate them if you want, but I'm not going to count it if you have less than 20 since it skews everything.

Which reminds me of another rule I need to add to the original post...

I also agree that the top 20 is boring. The top 5 will have at least one album from Slayer or Metallica but I predict Hell Awaits is going to win (yawn).

I don't see what that has to do with my question... All I was asking for is if we could have a rule so we can only vote for one album per band. So we won't have 2 Incantation, 3 Metallica, 3 Slayer and so on. Let's say that Black Metal will be the next genre, then we will only be allowed to name one album from (for example) Burzum. Just so we can have variation. Top 20 with 20 different bands. Just wondering.

I responded and edited my original post :)

I guess it also comes down to how to successfully and accurately depict what the actual picks are for the forum as a whole. At least if you leave the prelim round open, you're going to have a more accurate picture of album popularity..

Ah great thanks. From my perspective it's more fun and challenging but I guess I'll wait and see. :)

Excluding the Metallica inclusions and Vektor/Morbid Saint just by virtue of a lack of output, the bands that deserve recognition don't even have their best albums included (eg Sodom and Coroner), and most of the rest of the stuff is worse than meh (Slayer, Testament, Artillery, etc).

Did you ever think that maybe they don't deserve recognition because not enough people listed them? ;-)

Well maybe you should wait until thew voting is finished up before tallying the votes ... wouldn't that make more sense? Also i only changed my list twice .... like just about everyone else in the thread did. I just hope you counted the numbers right this time ... don't fuck it up like last time.

    Pretty solid list overall.

I always consider waiting until the end to tally everything up, but then I get excited about what the results are gonna be so I get ahead of myself :p

I'd place it on second position very close to PM, but there's no way that Agent Orange is their best.
