I've never listened to alot of dio but I know people love his older stuff after rainbow and sabbath. What are the essential dio albums?

Holy Diver, The Last In Line, and Dream Evil are my three favorites. Sacred Heart, Killing The Dragon, and Master of the Moon are also really good albums.

Well it is damnit lol .. first Dio album i bought back in the 80's... and i think i liked it because Vivian was still in the band and he is a good underrated guitarist.. i think it was the last Dio album he was on... i didnt say it was the best one just that it was a good one.. of course Holy Diver and Last in Line are the better ones...

Dream Evil, this one being my fav. Something magical about this album for me. Great melodies and very eerie sounding. Plus I loved Craig Goldy's guitar work on this one. Love it!

Pick up "The Very Beast of Dio". It has all the best songs on one disc. But my two fav Dio album's are Holy Diver, and Lock up the Wloves.
