Destroy Erase Improve is a great album, and Future Breed Machine is one of the best metal songs I've ever heard. I'm not sure how anyone who likes metal doesn't enjoy this song. Obscura is too much of a chore for me to listen to, but I can see why people like it.
Gorguts easily for me. Gorguts have been one of my favourite band for quite a while and still is. So Gorguts all the way for me. And seriously...obscura generic, trendy tech death? How anyone can say that is beyond me. This album came out of nowhere (and was even quite a change from the band's previous work) and was really different to what was done at the time and there still isn't a lot of albums really similar in any way. Besides Purulence, who have have similarities to the Obscura period for Gorguts (I guess Steeve Hurdle had a lot of influence in the creation of Obscura), I fail to see how this album can be called "trendy" or "generic" as there's really not many albums like it.
He was confused and referring to the shitty tech death band Obscura, not the amazing album by Gorguts.
People here hate Meshuggah WHAT?! Chaosphere, DEI and obZen are 3 awesome albums. My friend loves Gorguts...I never gave them a chance.. Typical thread here for Metalheads...Everyone's gonna pick the more obscure band to prove a point..even if they are a worse band..I wouldn't know though..I'll download obscura one of these days.
Yeah they are compared to Meshuggah...I'm not saying Death Metal, Metal in general...Who's more obscure and most people don't know about? GORGUTS
There's nothing wrong with liking mainstream stuff... but just because a band is or isnt mainsteam shouldnt really change how much you like one more than the other. From everything I've heard, Gorguts is the better band by a mile. Simple as that. Edit: You might want to start with their first 2 albums first. Obscura is a different sort of beast.
