    ok i would like to know who you think are the great singers of past and present. there are very very many so try to widen your scope beyond the metal scene. and pleas dont do that daft clean vocal/dirty vocal/bear noise vocal category thing. i want to hear about real singers.....

    i'll give you a few examples...
    aretha franklin, john lennon,elvis,bjork,liz frazer,nat king cole,kurt cobain,eddie vedder,tori amos,nick drake,richard ashcroft(the verve),chris martin(coldplay),thom yorke,jeff buckley,simon & garfunkel,beth gibbons (portishead),greg graffin(bad religion),glenn danzig,john lydon,paul mcartney,george harrison,bob dylan,marshall mathers,doug pinnick,wino,anna livingstone.
    there are loads more...what do yous think...?

    curtis(joy division),gilmour,fish,Peter Hammill(you should check him out,great singer,silent corner and the empty stage(cd),vandergraaf's(band) godbluff(cd) is a classic),peter gabriel,layne staley and ,of course,'our' own vincent. How do you rate your little brother,Danny?

    Nick cave does'nt have a great voice IMO

    John mccormack ...awesome,
    frankie boy sinatra, them bulgarian chant wimmen (les mysteries dos voix etc), billie holiday, paul robeson, juille cruise, sinead o connor, loads more very few of 'em metal

    Have to agree with all singers mentioned till now (however I don't like all of their music but that's not the point eh). I would like to add :
    Tom Barman (dEUS), Stef C.(or s it K.?) Carlens (Zita Swoon), Jasper S. (Arid), Peter Steele, Heather Nova, Tom Waits, Freddy Mercury...

    It is pretty cliche to say it at this board, but Vinny actually is one of my most favorite singers.
