My predictions (in no particular order) solely based upon the buzz I've seen on here, plus PP veterans that have released albums within the last year or two: Kingcrow Circus Maximus Thoughts Factory Shattered Skies Amorphis Diablo Swing Orchestra Symphony X (wild card on this one) As much as I'd like to see Savatage in one way, shape or form (WMD or otherwise) - chances are it ain't gonna happen.
Oh shit! I didn't miss it. It was obvious...AVANTASIA 4 hour set! OK, I'll take a stab at Wednesday. I actually ran out of bands for my list earlier. The Storyteller Damnation Angels re-union (lol) Kamelot
Which is exactly why it will be AVANTASIA next year! Because money isn't real and its all just a game!
I will go ahead and give suggestions on who I would like to see; METAL CHURCH!!!! VISIGOTH GRAND MAGUS Been wanting Grand Magus for years now. Visigoth was a COOL surprise with The Revenant King. Mike Howe on Center Stage would be EPIC.
EDIT: Threshold Freak Kitchen Black Majesty Vanishing Point Ghost Ship Octavius This would make me extremely happy!
Always enjoy the speculation these "guess the roster" threads generate, if for no other reason that it gives me new bands to check out. And I've been out of the concert loop for nearly two years largely due to a move to South America. Events have once again conspired to force me to miss what will be my 3rd ProgPower USA in a row and let me tell you this gets tougher every year. I suppose I could be greedy and wish for performers drawn from those who have graced the stage for those ProgPowers I've had to miss! But shame on me for even thinking that! I don't know that I could even hazard meaningful guess list so perhaps a sort-of wish list will suffice and maybe I might actually get one right (my track record with guessing the line-ups is notoriously terrible). Cheers to the Saga recommendation above.... would love to see them on a Wednesday or Thursday (Nathan.... please!) show. Saw them exactly once with the original line-up way back in 1982 so it has been too long. I think these guys would be well received. Though Glenn, when I inquired about it a few years back, told me they weren't a real good fit for the festival (Friday and Saturday events), I'd love to see Arena in a Wednesday or Thursday show too. Of course I may be the only one who'd like that but who knows? I wonder if Spock's Beard would go over well at all or even if they are still doing anything. Yes, I'm THAT out of touch.... Well more to the heavier side of our program.... I'd love to see Ihsahn come back. What a show that was! And if it means Leprous get to do a little something something as well, I would not complain. In Extremo would be fun too see again (saw them on one of the 70000 Tons of Metal cruises) but not sure how a group that does not sing in English would go over. Amorphis would be really good to see again, too. Are Karnivool still around and doing anything? Our friends in Voyager might know about that. Saw Karnivool at SXSW in Austin a few years back and loved them. Korpiklaani may be a gimmick to many but damn that would be some beer-fueled fun jumping around for their set. Redemption. I've always enjoyed them immensely. Anyone think Agalloch would be a good fit for the festival or one of the opening days? One odd-ball that would engulf the night in pure darkness (in a good way) would be Triptykon but that might not fit most tastes. But I'd love to see them. Blind Guardian. King Diamond, though he's been quite active touring recently and has more in the very near future, could put on a good "special" setlist show with his discography! I would so love to see Tiamat now that it has been announced that they will working again. In fact I would REALLY love to see them. And since I've taken up too much of your valuable time and space, I'll leave it at that. Thanks for letting me ramble..... cheers from Medellin, Colombia!
ok, I'll play..keep in mind that I have no inside info even though I work for the fest I'll just guess the main roster because who knows what Milton and Nathan are planning Friday night: Shattered Skies Ascendia Anubis Gate Gloryhammer Metal Church Kamelot (special Karma set) Saturday night: Universe Effects Ethernity Serious Black Triosphere Powerwolf Fates Warning (Awaken the Guardian set) A lot of my own personal wish list here…lol
Riot V Kingcrow Arcane Shattered Skies Serious Black Vanden Plas (headliner) Alestorm Metal Church Enchant Votum Pyramaze Blind Guardian (headliner)
I'd love to see quite a few bands. One can always hope. Axel Rudi Pell Powerwolf Rhapsody Of Fire Gammaray (Land of the Free in it's entirety) Unisonic Helloween Fear Factory Grave Digger (The Grave Digger in it's entirety) Amorphis (Silent Waters in it's entirety) Helstar Praying Mantis Vader Grand Magus Iron Savior Visigoth Wizard
While you are at it add the much coveted Savatage reunion, and the last song is When the Crowds are gone because Glenn and Jennifer will be living in a van after having to fund all these bands
If they don't get picked, I'd be HIGHLY surprised! I wish! Only found about this band a couple of months ago. I hope they get picked! Gotta get Urban back to PP! Another one of those "bucket list" bands I've been wanting to see for a while! Another I wish band. Overall a nice list!
I love, love, LOVE Agalloch, but I don't see this happening. I'd love, love, LOVE to be proven wrong, but I'm certainly not holding my breath.
We are definitely overdue for another Freak Kitchen set, and I'm hoping DSO is invited back. Beyond that, I can't even begin to guess who might be playing next year!
Wait long enough, and there probably will be a Paganfest with those guys. As much as I like Korpiklaani (and Eluveitie), they are bands that probably tour the states too much for this fest. I'll just list a bunch of bands that could be strong candidates to show up next year that I'd like to see: Isis Divine Xerath Triosphere Ascendia Daydream IX For returning bands, Diablo Swing Orchestra is really due to be back. I'd also like to see Devin Townsend back as well, tho that would be less likely. I'd also like to see the Luppi-led Secret Sphere come back. As for my wishlist, my biggest wish is for Hammers Of Misfortune to play the fest.
I guessed all Swedish (or Swedish-related) bands last year as a joke and still got 3 right, if you still count Morgana Lefay. Shaye
